I have been a non-smoker now for 2 months, 1 weeks and 2 days. During this time i have had an awful cold which knocked me back. Today, i woke up and have now got yet another one. Is this a sign of my body clearing itself out? It is beginning to get me down! I am currently walking 3 miles per day as well as doing an hour of aerobic exercise per day. I am also eating healthily with lots of fruit and veg. I just hate the smell on my breath my clothes skin ect so it as got to work
I have been smoking again for over 12mhs again and hate it i feel filthy and embarrassed when smoking.
Good luck to everyone its not easy but keep trying.;)

Hey everyone,
well done to all achievers & never mind, try again to all wannabes
Sunnyteacake I am so envious of you, not only have you done over 2 months but you're eating great food & walking, meanwhile I am scoffing donuts & carbs on top of all the fruit & veg- Feedie - I blame you & your chocolate brownies
:A . Sounds to me like your body is clearing out all the toxic waste, I never had a smokers cough but I quickly developed an ex-smokers cough for a bit when I stopped  .
Waspeze - dont get all stressed as well as smelly, yep somtimes stuff happens at just the wrong time  but I know you'll be back soon
. I really found the gum helped me as I could have a sneaky one at the pub / beach / cinema etc & no one else knew, it's great for that instant temptation relief as your mouth is immediately occupied & you can do it wherever you like
.
Lita - never mind, try again
BF - wow, you're doing fab, I tried Allen Carr years ago but being a bit cynical I couldnt quite absorb everything as I should have, glad it's working for you tho.
Doesnt really matter how we quit, I think each person has to find what connects with their particular character & then sprinkle on a bit of willpower & determination to succeed.
Have a great week end everyone - yes even you in the smelly corner

Good luck for the week end everyone,0 -

Don't concern yourself about it too much sunnyteacake as I've heard folk complain of exactly the same symptoms many times and had the same myself. It seems to be a very natural happening and yes, you're right about it being due to your body clearing itself out, especially at the onset of your quitting. My guess is that you're now doing more exercise than before you quit and that the walking coupled with the aerobics has brought on this second bout of coughing, could that be right? If so, then try doing less of each for a short while and see how it goes, though the aerobics is the one that really makes us ex smokers cough much more. That's the way it was for me too, so I cut down the aerobics and it soon settled so I then gradually increased it after the cough was ok. Test yourself with it and see how you go. Do you get out of breath a lot? Your new habits of eating healthily with lots of fruit and veg is only to be commended, so good for you! Keep counting those months, weeks and days and thinking of your great health and money saved, you're doing great!!! :Twalks wrote:I just hate the smell on my breath my clothes skin ect so it as got to work I have been smoking again for over 12mhs again and hate it i feel filthy and embarrassed when smoking.
Keep bearing those words, along with the good great health and heavy pockets you'll have Pip (walks) and you'll get there soon enough.
Well done BF109, you're doing very well indeed!
Good luck to you both ....as well as to everyone!

I thought I was over the worst but the past few days have been a bit of a struggle. It's really the first time I've thought, 'oooo could just fancy a tab'. I have resisted though so my SilkQuit meter states:
One month, one week, 9 hours, 57 minutes and 46 seconds. 576 cigarettes not smoked, saving £135.41. Life saved: 2 days, 0 minutes
Good luck to all those who are quittingBSC Member 59 - AD 29th March 2008

Hello everyone
Can I join you? I'm planning to quit yet againon Wednesday. I spend approx. £76 a month on rolling tobacco (gone are the days when I smoked Marlboro), plus the occasional pack of ten fags, & apart from the damage it's causing my body I just can't afford it. I've just downloaded a free quitmeter, have two boxes of nicorette microtabs from the local stop smoking counsellor, Allen Carr's book, Paul McKenna's book & CD, some gum from my last failed attempt..... I've got no excuse this time to keep putting it off!

I have now been smoke free for 8 days thanks to Allen Carr - No longer have any pangs or cravings. Easiest quit attempt ever!
I cannot recommend him highly enough but be aware that if you plan to use his book then you must keep smoking till you have finished it and then no nicotine replacement at all!
Just something to be aware of - I cant stress how amazing that book is but good luck to you whatever your chosen method may be![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber
