Think of it as £1,200 a year rather - dont know how much you earn, but thats a good 13th pay-cheque to someone on £20k a year. And for what? for nothing! free money! all you have to do is not poison yourself!

NOW - Add in the interest you could accumulate on that money......... Then add inflation of around 5% per annum for every year that you would have smoked if you hadnt stopped............... Over the course of 30 years (a smoking lifetime!) that adds up to well over £200,000!

You have basically won second prize in the Euromillions lottery - For Free!

Thats brilliant bf109, thanks for that, wait till the missus reads it, chi-ching!!!!!!!

aargh I am such a twonk :o I woke up this morning & lit up!!!

But thank you everybody for your messages of support

I'm not giving up giving up though, just signed up for the nicorette active stop programme online.

I do feel very peed off with myself though  & a bliddy failure right now

Stay positive and don't let one silly mistake stop you. Everytime i take a deep breath all i can taste is clean air, visualise it and go for it. If you remain positive there is no stopping you. It is just state of mind and a bit of will power.

    Good Luck

Well, I dont know about "improved" but yes, defo eating more!

This is because the very slight nicotine withdrawal symptoms that we all experience when we give up feel very similar indeed to hunger. We therefore try to feed the nicotine monster with food

    - of course, the little !!!!!!! needs nicotine not food and he will soon weaken and then starve do death IF you stop all nicotine intake. Beware, therefore, of NRT.

Yes, it may give you a sense of security but this sense of security is false! It is false because you are feeding that little monster and are therefore not breaking the addiction.

Dont end up as one of those sad fools who are still chewing nicorettes years later and still secretly wishing they could smoke!

Oh yes  I am now the not so proud owner of an extra 7lbs  in the last 6 weeks. Would be more than happy to donate them to you :D as I want them as much as I want a cigarette :rotfl: . Am desperately hoping to lose them before I go on hol next thurs, but failing that I will do my best to leave them in Spain as excess baggage no longer required ;)

MM - Never mind, try again & just in case you have doubts, try my little mantra :

You can do it, you can, you can, you can,
You will do it, you will, you will, you will :D

Don't feel too badly at your blip mm244, just move on to the next time and keep on trying hard. The NASP may be just the thing that will make it easier for you, so look forward to it in just as positive a way as you had been. You'll get there in time, until then start to prepare and write down all the negatives about smoking, then pin them somewhere prominent to help you whenever you feel a little weak.

All the best and keep right on looking ahead to being free from that awful stuff, it'll happen!

To all those having problems with eating more. Have a good few glasses of water each day as it's a great filler-upper.

In particular have a good long glassful about 20 mins before each meal. In between meals have some pre-prepared carrot sticks and celery sticks. Apples (large ones) or any other fruit also help to fill you up, especially in the evenings when you might get a hunger on.

Do extra exercise with a brisk walk round the block/field a few times a day. Going up stairs several times helps too; when you need to go up for something, do so then after coming back down, go straight back up again. It's all extra to what you'd normally do and you'd be amazed at the results. Exercise DVDs or Wii Fit will be a great help.

I love your idea of "leaving them in Spain as excess baggage no longer required" Lula :D but try all the above and I do hope it works quickly for you. Have a great time in Spain with all that fresh air .....and a fresh body, inside and out! ;)

Keep it up everyone as you CAN all do it!!!
