    Hi shoperholicnot,

that's great news :D . Like you I've managed to quit before using the gum, but for some reason this time I just dont want to smoke. Have had a few gums during the week but not a single one today & even when catching a whiff of someone elses smoke I'm just not tempted :j .

Keep us updated on your progress & well done, I'm really pleased for you :D

    Hi everyone

    Welcome to the newbies.
Well done those who have managed to keep stopping.
In to my third week now and it is easier - one thing though - just have to keep blocking that naughty voice in my head that says just have one as a test
    Keep on stopping

  • Hi Guys, looks like everyone is doing really well, I did fine on my week away from work to. So that leaves me at a massive

1 month 5 days saved £179.00 (probably better to say not spent on death sticks as I have no idea where the money has gone or how I found it before!)

Wannabemoneysavingstar - congrats on the time spent not smoking, I know what you mean about the money. I downloaded silkquit and according to that I've saved close £90. Can't quite believe that my habit cost so much but the money saved may account for the new items of clothes that have mysteriously appeared in my wardrobe !!! They are justified under the rule that we must be kind to ourselves while going through the early days !!!!

Lewki, did you manage to stay away from the cigs this weekend. I struggled a bit myself. We had some lager and watched a comedy DVD and for a moment the thought came that I could just spark up to complete my enjoyment. I don't know how you manage to stay without the cigs all week, I know that if I just had one I would go back, so you obviously have the willpower.

Shopaholicnot sounds like hynotherapy may just be what you needed, congrats so far - it'll be a week by tomorrow which is quite a milestone to make.

Day four and still going strong. Had a few little urges but nothing drastic, really starting to think I can do it this time :D

    Hello :)
I have just found out i am pregnant and am going cold turkey with the ciggies. Its only been since last night but its killing me, its all i think about!

I think its the decision being made for me that has not helped (although thats no excuse because we were trying) but i know its what i want to do.

Has anyone else done this, is there anything i can use? Don't want to pump my body full of NRT if i am going to do some damage.

    God i'm going potty!

    HELP!!!!! xxx

    Hi Jenkellyxx

I gave up smoking when I was pregnant with the help of my doctor/midwife. I was told if I gave up early enough with the help of nicotine patches I would be weaned off in plenty of time for it not to effect the baby. I could never do it cold turkey and found the doctors support was a great help.

I managed to quit in 1st month of pregnancy but then undo all my hard work by starting again after my daughter was born (blamed the pain!)

Currently coming up to one week not smoking and I'm determined to do it this time, just wish I'd carried on my virtuous ways after the birth!!

Give your doctor a call or midwife and I'm sure they will be supportive, they would rather you stop smoking using patches than carry on or being stressed about it!

    Good luck x
