Hi All
Just dropping int say hi and update. I have now completed 4 weeks of weekdays (Monday-Fiday) smoke free. This weekend I am no gonna smoke and come on here and rant away as necessary!!
Good luck everyone - keep it going (believe me it does get easier - just not when there is a cold beer in the fridge on a Friday night lol)0 -
Well done Lewki, atta boy
.
Hey bubbles, yeh, I'm much better today thanks, about 5 mins away from completing a full 4 days :j & have now lost the desire to commit acts of violence. Off to the dentist tomorrow for a scale & polish  so that should help to keep me motivated to keep teeth all clean & shiny
.
Cream crackered tonight so having an early one, will catch up on your progress tomorrow
Gnite

i havent got anything to say really as am still at the 'just cutting down stage'!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Lewki, while this goes against all my own principles
maybe you should think about quitting the booze for a few weeks as well?
You seem to struggle to stay smoke free while drinking and to me it's a pretty obvious step to remedy that situation!0 -
Hi Everybody
Please can I come and join you? I've 'slapped' a patch on this morning and am determined to make a proper go of it this time! We've haven't had a 'sunny' holiday for over 5 years so that is one incentive. My main incentives are money, my health, my childrens happiness and that I've recently met a great guy who doesn't smoke and I'm sure it can't be very nice for him kissing an ashtray!!BSC Member 59 - AD 29th March 2008

:hello: smashedboo & simbalou & a big welcome to you both
Congrats to jinky , fantastic
Frankly I'm glad to have a bit of company as I'm sure I saw a tumbleweed rolling by on this thread earlier  .
Smashedbooboo, definitely a good idea to bin the ashtrays & any other smoking related trinkets. I do still have an onyx africa shaped ashtray but it's never been used as too pretty & a memento so 'sacred'.
A potential man is a brilliant motivator too, having ditched the last 'smoking model' I'd have to have a non smoking one in the future ( unless Johnny Depp comes a knocking with a 10 pack of course)
Lots of luck to you both & join in my little chant :
we can do it, we can, we can, we can

Hi Lula-Hula, like you my first day smoke free was 30th June so we will have to encourage each other to keep going. :T Good luck to all the other newbies. WE CAN DO IT. :j
Have washed all my clothes etc now so everything smelling great................even though I have never smoked in the house, the smell of smoke still carries in on you and taints everything.
My only problem at the moment is that I have gone from 20-30 cigarettes a day, to 20 plus cups of tea and coffee to compensate for lighting up!!!! Feeling a bit hyperactive at times and can't stop peeing!!!Still worth it though.

Morning all,
my face all lopsided & my tongue still numb after trip to dentist BUT I have nice clean shiny teeth & as I no longer smokethey should stay that way.
Lewki - sorry to say but I'm with Doltage re the drinking. Until you have formed new habits it's best to avoid triggers. And , I thought I could just do the week end smoking thing but unfortunately the evil one doesnt switch off on monday morning  . I know its tough hon, but the only way you're gonna be a non smoker is by not smoking...at all. Believe me on this, I've tried every trick to keep them a part of my life in some way until I realised its not gonna work, unless i spend half my week trying to overcome the cravings I've self inflicted by smoking at the week end or just evenings or every other day.
Come on now, you're a big brave boy & you just dont need them anymore
Feedie, glad you're still lurking & defying the evil one :A
Red1708 - glad you can join usthe more the merrier & I'm sure everyone in your life will appreciate your new improved self.
Happy smoke free friday all & remember :
We can do it, we can, we can, we can

hi hope everyone is doing well
just an update
had my hypno on tuesday, and i have not smoked since, not even any cravings, this is a miracle for me and i really think this is it for me...i actually feel like a proper non smoker and I have NEVER felt like that -even when i quit for a whole year! (i have to add that when i quit for a year it was only because i spent the whole year on nicotine gum!)0 -
Hi shoperholicnot,
that's great news. Like you I've managed to quit before using the gum, but for some reason this time I just dont want to smoke. Have had a few gums during the week but not a single one today & even when catching a whiff of someone elses smoke I'm just not tempted :j .
Keep us updated on your progress & well done, I'm really pleased for you
