Hi Pulmanji,
Congratualtions on finding us, you have done what I did lurked for a bit and read everyone elses posts, it is great to have the support on here.
The first thing you need to do is to decide why you want to stop, most people money appears to be the main reason. I have found that have a silk quit, quit meter helps as it counts up exactly how much your saving.http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx

I am almost at nine hours now. Strangely, I have a bit of a cough forming? Think that's anything to do with not fagging it, or just coincidence?
I have tried countless times before 8 + to stop and I feel more positive this time, only using the gum this time as well but there are hundreds of ways to stop you have to choose the best way. I find the gum works well as I use it instead of smoking / at the same time as rambling on here when I am at work.
As I said before some where is like having big brother watching you, in a good way and it does really help. Just keep rambling it really does help, sure there are far more professional ideas like going to NHS group, doctors, pharmacy but I find rambling works well. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Good luck the support is here if you need it :T0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply, I will have a look at that link. I think just reading what other people are going through and how they are handling it is a big help.0 -
Have finally conceeded that we are TOO far in debt... and my £5 a day smoking habit is definately NOT helping us in any way, so time for me to finally try and dump the ciggies (HEEELLLLPPPPP!)
Have got 3 patches sitting in the cupboard leftover from a previous attempt to give up, and have invested in one of those inhaler things that are supposed to help you... hmmmm we will see!
Anyways, tomorrow is my start day of NO MORE SMOKING... hopefully will manage longer than 3 days, the most I have ever gone in over 12 years without a ciggie
Will let you all know how I go... and well done to all of you who are already doing fab with not smoking2013 Wins: The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change Book, CBeebies Satchel, Liora Swarovski Elements Necklace, The Snow Womble Book, Crystal Earrings, £100 Cash, Ferrero Rocher Chocs, Yuko London Hair Products0 -

Hi All,
I have packed it in.
Last fag was about 18 Hours ago.
No patches, just determination.
Must admit that I was worried that I would have difficulty as the last addiction that I gave up was Seroxat (About 10 years ago) and getting off that was REALLY bad, and I feared that I might get some kind of flashback but nothing yet.
Feeling pretty good but feeling GREAT that I have made that move.
I did it!
NOW, I guess, the hard work starts.
Wish me luck.:)
Incidentally, if it helps I used roll-ups and have done since 1969 (minus 4 years) and for the last 3 Mths have cut my usage down to 50G over two weeks. Ok, so I smoked my last cigarette at 9pm last night, felt dreadful this morning, really bad headache, but has cleared now and am actually feeling quite positive
Went to the shops to buy bread and milk, managed to resist the temptation to buy some cigarettes, and we are off out to the school summer fete now, so that will keep me busy for the next couple of hours at least!
Will keep you all updated with my progress, I have to say that having the SilkQuit tab on the bottom of my computer is actually really helping me, as is this forum!2013 Wins: The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change Book, CBeebies Satchel, Liora Swarovski Elements Necklace, The Snow Womble Book, Crystal Earrings, £100 Cash, Ferrero Rocher Chocs, Yuko London Hair Products0 -
hi all
just a quick check in. my quitometer is now at 1yr 2m 1d  so ive kicked the habit but now need to kick the NRT habit  am on the nasal spray  and the odd bit of gum so have come    but also the money im spending on that had cancelled out most of the savings  so this is my new challenge also gonna check into stayquit too :j
overall though i am quite impressed i thought the stop smoking thing would be a lot harder than it was it is definelty down to your frame of mind so anyone whos still newly quit and going thru hell - relax it does get easier :T0
