Well done to everyone on todays successes.
Doltage set me some homework last week & I still havent completed it : the task was to write down the pros & cons of smoking, you dont need me to tell you which list I'm struggling with ;)
Keep up the good work & remember,
You can do it, you can, you can, you can :) Lula

:j Hi lewki, i managed to get through it. Im actually on day 5 today. Feel like im cheating a bit because im wearing patches but they are sort of like my security blanket at the moment! I had a nsd yesterday, didnt go to the shop to buy cigarettes and therefore didnt pick up sweets for the kids or a magazine, mints etc for me. Worked out i have saved 30 quid just on cigarettes let alone the stuff i buy along with them! This is my incentive!

:o do you know me? I have done this in the past. The shame.:o

Are you able to afford a trip to the dentist soon? They will clean your teeth at the check up. Hopefully you have an NHS dentist.

That Eucryl (sp) toothpaste is pretty good for removing the stains. It's the one in the little round tub and in powder form.

It's also pretty good at removing the enamel.

If you want your teeth WELL looked after, and the real gunk removed, then I would say hopefully you have a PRIVATE dentist.

An NHS one is more likely to just do a very superficial job - or tell you that you need to pay privately to get it done properly!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Really. The toothpaste I used this morning but I use it once in a blue moon. I can imagine it being too harsh for everyone

And double really regarding NHS dentists? I have been with my dentist for over 20 years and found her lovely and really thorough.

It will still have to be NHS until I am debt free.

I had one cigarette left from yesterday and smoked it this morning so that's that now. Microtabs and carrots, here I come.icon7.gif

But you bought 10 rather than 20. You will do it.
  • Morning everyone, managed to get past the post office again, and have made it to work without spending any money apart from child care but thats different.

Lewki how did last night go?

Queen Carrot (Miia) how are you going today on your first day.

Saved £5.35 already, watch my debt disappear.

    Morning all,

Well done to those who are coping :D

Naomim - Dont stress about having a blip - This is really really tough & it does take a while to change those old habits, the important thing is you're going to try again & you want to win. Try to think about those habits when you would usually reach for an evil one, I mean those moments when you 'enjoy' one rather than all the ones you smoke just because you can. Sometimes it helps to cut down to just the ones you think you 'need' first & then find an alternative action instead. Apart from the actual craving which can be dealt with by nicotine substitutes it's helpful to find something to do with your mouth & hands. My trigger moments were talking on the phone & while  I was cooking a big meal. Thats why the gum works for me, I also usually have a pen in my hand that I can chew on :rotfl: .

    Good luck & remember :

You can do it, you can, you can, you can :D
