Hi feedumall,
Doesn't stopping smoking improve productivity? I'm just about to convert a strip of south facing lawn into a row where I can plant some Runner Beans; I haven't grown them for years, and my O.H loves them.
Not sure I'd be much good baking cakes though.

hi everyone, well done for doin so well so far.
am goin to hav a look thru all my stuff as i am officially a stop smoking advisor and qualified nurse (not very good am i? im struggling to stop myself!!!) never mind, i havent done it for ages so will have a refresh and try to find any tips i can for you all. basically i think i remember that if you have a 20 a day habit then just a 16 hour patch should be enough. only use 24 hr patch if u are serious heavy smoker. also latest research suggests using dual therapy i.e a patch as main support and then a gum/ lozenge etc for top ups.waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0 -
hi
are you using the gum correctly? you are supposed to chew and then place it up under your gum. it does tend to have a slight burning sensation tho. keep trying.:Twaddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0 -
i smoked twenty a day used the patches:o the strongest ,but for about eight hours a day ,and then less, only used for about ten days,i hate gum ,but if i had used patches and gum you would have been able to scrape me off the ceiling:eek: patches alone made me feel drunk0

firstly what i was talking bout earlier iv had a look and this is the basics-
if you smoke up to 10 a day then use 2mg gum, microtab, lozenge or inhalator
if you smoke 10-20 a day you can use same as above but with a 20mg patch
if you smoke more than 20 a day then 4mg gum or lozenge, microtab and a patch.
note patches vary from different manufacturers
if you use gum use different one every 1-2 hours and no more than 8-10 a day
basically 2mg gum = 1 cigarette
20mg patch = 20 cigarettes
2mg microtab = 1 cigarette
so example 20- 25 cigs a day use 20mg patch plus up to 5 pieces gum per day for breakthrough.
glucose tablets are proving beneficial to aid quitting.
however be careful when using NRT if you take any of the following
insulin
flecanide
thyroxine
warfarin
theophylline
some analgesia ( can increase effects so need less pain relief)
some anti depressants (can cause adverse effects)
propanolol
oestrogens (found in the pill or HRT)
if in doubt talk to your GP first!!!!
also liquorice gum not suitable for pregnant women.
note NRT is not generally given to people with any form of heart disease unless under strict medical advice so please if this is you do check with a doctor first.:cool:waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0 -
almost forgot if you feel dizzy or light headed try using a lower dose patch or put it on at night while you sleep and then by morning some of the stronger effects will be wearing off. this might suit you better.waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0

Well i made it through yesterday without smoking but came so close and in the end told myself i should go to sleep. I had contemplated going outside to smoke (yes i still have cigarettes in the house-please don't shout at me), washing clothes and having a shower so housemate didn't know but i thought it was too much effort to be honest!!. Another 6hrs and it has been 5 weeks.0

:j Hi Everyone
I hope all of you are having a drier day than us, its pooring here!!!!!
I am so glad im not "just popping outside" in this weather, really, this is why i quit, am i the only one that used to feel really, really stupid standing in the rain, battling the wind trying to hold an umbrella, light a fag and keep the fag dry (i have even been known to swear much too loudly because a badly timed drip ruined a fag half way through and ive had to start another:eek: )
I am feeling so much more positive still, Lula, Feed, TNG and everyone else, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
You are all so lovely and are really helping me stay strong.
Its definately just my brain - i have noticed a few pounds piling on (5 in the last 3 weeks) but im guessing its just about retraining by hands to play with something else, lol
