    Hi Everyone
    Thank you so much!!!
Especially Feed and Lula, Congratulatsion on the Weekiversary!!!!
Im still resisting. I think ive had a bit more time to think about what im feeling and (ready for me to start waffling again?) i think its because of the following reasons:
    1. I used to genuinely ENJOY smoking and now something i like has been removed from me (all be it self inflicted) :o
    2. I miss the conversations i used to have with smoking friends :o
    3. I miss the excuse that it gave me to pop outside and move away from the [strike]annoying[/strike] [strike]boring[/strike] [strike]less interesting[/strike] different minded people at the pub ;)
    4. I miss having something to do with my hands :o
    5. As strange as it sounds i felt very independant when i smoked, going out on my own for a cig and chatting to someone new was empowering :o
    6. Ive been doing it for 13 years - thats longer than ive ever had a pet or hobby!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:
    7. OH hated it, and sometimes when we have a tiff i loved smoking just because it was one more thing that iritated him :o
But I am not going to start again!!!!
    Why?
    Because im stronger than this,
Because i know i need to give up for my health,
Because i dont want to waste any more money,
Because i dont like smelling like an ashtray
    and more importantly
Because deep down i know hubby and friends love me for me and that smoking isnt the social stick that i need to rely on anymore.
Thanks so much for all your support guys, this is the start to a new, more positive me.
3 weeks, 1 day, 18 hours, 23 minutes without a evil, dirty, digusting fag
  • Hi i have been a lurker here for the past few weeks and it has helped me not to smoke so far 1 month, 3 days, 30mins but for the last few days and today especially i am struggling. I am so tempted to smoke but i feel that not only would i be letting myself down but also everyone else who is proud and happy for me.
I like the fact that i no longer smell of smoke that i am not wasting money on ciggarettes, not saving money but not adding to my debts at the same time.
I think i have become complacent and not my head is saying one won't hurt-but the rational side of my knows it will.
Sorry i realise i am rambling but typing is keeping my hands busy!!

No puzzy, you didn't! Trust me on this. SO many people say this, and it simply isn't true. To prove it...... just two questions

    1) Knowing everything you know now, if you could go back in time to when you had your very first cigarette, would you still smoke it? (ans - NO! Of course not TNG you silly sausage!)

    2) Of all the non-smoking people you know, how many of them do you think were jealous of you because they would never have that 'enjoyment' from smoking? (ans - ummm.... about NONE)

I can't claim credit for that second question. I read it on this very thread. But I LOVE IT!!!!

Your brain is a magnificent instument, that can convince itself that it is enjoying something when it isn't. PLEASE disavow yourself of ANY notion that you enjoyed smoking. Once you realise this, the other reasons are a house of cards and will tumble away, leaving you HAPPY that you don't smoke anymore

Here endeth the [STRIKE]lecture[/STRIKE] lesson :D:D

Hi its 211 days for me which is brilliant, I never thought I would be able to give it up but I have, and one thing that really helped was to pledge every day not to smoke, and join in the daily roll call, so if I can direct you to a non-smoking group (daily strength) they are a very friendly bunch of like minded people I hope to see you there. Hello everyone, you are all doing so well.

I have stopped taking the champix now, i think my last tablet was monday, and am doing ok, still crave a fag after a meal but it soon goes away.

Been up half the night with pains at the top of my stomach it felt like i had swallowed glass, bloody agony, OH reckons its just my digestion system, feel ok this morning, but dont want to eat anything yet just incase it comes back.

    My Stats

One week, six days, 11 hours, 28 minutes and 57 seconds. 269 cigarettes not smoked, saving £33.69. Life saved: 22 hours, 25 minutes.

Nearly at my 2 weekiversary :j

Thank you for your kind thoughts, last night wasn't easy as we sat outside drinking. My friends didn't want me to smoke. I went out during the drinks and bought a packet of cigs, opened it and had one in my hand and then thought of u guys and didn't light it.
    Just want to say thanks

    Hi Naomi,

You've been stopped about the same time I have, and I've had some bad stomach aches.  They haven't developed into anything, so I'm sure it's not a "bug or virus"; just a griping ache that lasts a couple of minutes and comes and goes.

I'd put it down to adjusting to not smoking.:D

    Richard
