Hi all just hoping I can join in.
I gave up smoking when I found out I was pregnant and had stopped for 12 months doing really well with not even a thought but recently I've had a major wobble and started again  . Its not what I truly want it was just one of those stupid things you do when totally stressed and now i'm hooked again (one sly drag and here i am again!) I want to try and give it another go before i get out of hand and start on the 20 a day habit I had before. My kids deserve a happy healthy mum and I hate the fact i'm stinking of smoke again! So is it ok that I tag along for a bit of support....I think I'll need it. Funny but being pregnant spurned me on so I never faultered but I guess at the end of it all I'm just weak.Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0 -

Hi All
Newbie here but have been lurking for ages. Is it ok to join? Have packed in loads of times and managed to last few days sometimes have even lasted a few months then ended up smoking again!
Smoked my last cig (hopefully) on monday at 10.20pm and have bought myself some nicotine gum - tastes absolutely disgusting made me want to go and buy some cigs just to get rid of the tasteBut have kept at it just tucked the gum inside my cheek and seems to be taking craving away. Is it just me or does anyone else get really irritable and bad tempered?? I've bitten everyone's head off this morning and feel really awful and guilty now. OH got a mouthful last night too for not asking how I was doing lol

Hiya pamril and greenbynature
Welcome aboard the non-smoking wagon :T
I have stayed quit for 67 days now so I am mostly a lurker here these days - there are plenty of early days quitters knocking around to welcome you aboard though.
Just thought I would point out that the first post here has loads of useful advice and links to help you get your head around things.

Greenbynature and pamril1 Welcome!!! This is a great forum where we hope that if any other members are getting a caving you can come here, take out your feelings. I have done this on a couple of occasions and it has helped a great deal. Good luck.
Honey how are you doing today? is today "the day"?
Lula-Hula - is your hamster behaving now? i gave mine a bath last night and i don't think she likes me anymore  at least she doesn't smell anymore.
Richard_S - hows it going now?
feedumall - hows the pain now? i also have the wii and recently got the wii fit, but i can't get it working at the moment as my tv is knackered1
tattycath - good luck at stopping smoking this time
:T Day 11 :T - Can't believe how quick time has gone. The people at work who doubted me wheni said i was going to stop i think are jealous of me. They keep trying to tempt me into smoking but i keep knocking them back. There are times during the day where i really want one, its now about twice a day where at first it was about ten times! So not long to go now before i get just one every once ina while. Its harder getting just two cravings than ten as you have to be stronger! Hopefully i am over the worse.
I bought a ceaser salad earlier which i usually buy, and it tasted better. I think this means i am getting my taste buds back
Also on the way back from the supermarket i was stopped by a 12 year old girl in the street who asked me for"a pack of fags". I said no, i really wanted to tell her about this forum and how hard it is to give up so dont start, but what would that had achieved...we've all been there before i guess...the youth of today :mad:0 -

Richard_S - hows it going now?
Hi jfox,
It's going well thanks. I'm pleased now that I decided to go "cold turkey" but those first 3-4 days are pure purgatory.
If I can just quieten the little "voices" saying "you deserve a smoke" then I'll consider myself a non-smoker.:j :j I still don't think I could refuse a smoke if I was offered one, but I'm working on my mental approach to that one.
I'm sure I couldn't have got this far without this Thread, so heart-felt thanks to you all.:A :A

Hi Everyone,
Well Today certainly is the day... actually it was last night.. I haven't had a cig all day... 19 hours I believe!!... Not that I am counting or anything :rotfl:
I am not having strong cravings, but I am not sure where to put myself since I got in from work - this is usually the time I would sit with my cigs, and a cuppa and unwind.... Now I feel a bit on edge and not sure what I should be doing.. hope that makes sense!.
Hi Feedumall, Lula Hula, Naomi, MFD, Jfox, RichardS, Waspeze, Jellie, and In Debt again... And a very warm welcome to Pamril1 and Greenbynature   . Everyone seems to be doing well.. its great to hear :T :T0
