    Well done everyone.
Might go for a run tonight as have put on a few pounds since starting on tis champix although my appetitie has died off a bit. I am drinking loads of tea though i thought tea would never be the same again without a ciggie. I have noticed my skin looks a little pinker and not grey looking and washed out. Has anybody else noticed any pleasant effects of not smoking.

    Hi Naomi,

Can I pls just ask you a quick question... I know you are taking Champix - and I just wonder what the cravings are like?, are they duller than normal? or are you still battling with them?

Your doing really well :T :T

Hi everyone, glad to see everyone is having an okay day today. I've had another good day.
Day 6 has come to an end which is nice. The poeple who have been smoke free for months are my inspiration. Thank you for your posts. This will be my first full weekend, so i hope it will be fine. Can't believe how fast the first week has been, i have had my moments but generally i've been okay.

HoneyPie, how are you getting on?
Is anyone up to anything this weekend which could make or break them? I just don't think im ready for the pub yet... :(

Havent really had cravings at all on champix, only really wanted a fag the other night when neighbours came crashing through my fence at 1am, it made me so mad i could have just smoked one but been ok since then. Champix has been brilliant for me and wish i had tried it sooner.

    Hi All,

Ive not been able to post for a few days but i have been lurking at work.

To everyone that has slipped up, dont worry about it!!!! This is my second time on the thread now, i went through a bad patch and ended up starting again because life was a bit pants.

I think that we all make mistakes, my OH has a very useful saying for these circumstances.

The first time its a lesson - the second time its a mistake.

He tells me that the philosophy of this is that when you do something you think is wrong/bad/incorrect the first time there will always be an element of not knowing better, of not understanding, of just not getting it. When you make a mistake it means you have actually done something wrong.

So i take that to mean one slip up is fine, maybe even two, a friend of mine says she has given up for 4 months with 3 slip ups. She is happy that she has managed to only smoke a total of 30 fags in 4 months when she used to smoke 20 a day!!!!

    Hope this helps someone

I am doing ok thanks.. looking forward to actually giving the fags up and being able to say 1 day, 2 days, 6 days etc... hope I manage  . I start the higher dose of champix tommorrow so am expecting to be smoking fewer cigs by the start of next week, and quitting on Day 10 which is Wednesday I think..

I am sure you will be strong this weekend, try to do something good which will keep you busy ;)

    Hi Naomi,

From a male perspective, I've noticed a few:
    • We've recently joined a gym, (cheapy work deal) and after struggling with 5,000 metres on the rowing machine while I was still smoking, I beat the gym fastest time on Monday.:eek:
    • My eyes are a more vivid blue.
    • My blood pressure has dropped from moderate hypertension to ideal normal.
    • Food tastes better, as does wine and beer. I'd given up drinking beer because it was almost tasteless, but I've really enjoyed a few beers over the last couple of days.
    • No wheezy chest when I'm laid in bed at night.
    • And some spontaneous activity that falls into the TMI realm, and it wasn't lacking before I stopped.:o:o

Had to laugh at that last bit, i seem to be a lot more confident since quitting, or has the quitting gave me a confidence boost that i can do something. Had a bar of chocolate before and it tasted amazing, my taste buds are definately coming back to me.

    Hi everyone!
Well done to all at any stage of the battle! :T It is always inspiring and helpful to read through how people are doing- unfortunately my memory isn't good enough to reply to everyone individually but I'm thinking of you all!

Lula- thanks for sharing with us. I know exactly how difficult it is to come back amidst all these people who've made it through another day to admit you haven't. Well done for letting us know and I hope you'll keep dropping in here. Hopefully it will inspire you to try again. My blip showed me that I needed a strategy in place for the times when cravings got to tough. Now when I weaken I'm going to try some NR gum- hopefully it will feel like I'm giving in since I ideally want to go cold turkey bt without me actually giving in if that makes sense.
Anyway the new strategy has not only got me through day 1 but I also made it through our usual Friday night pub trip. It is a bit of a ritual for one of my colleagues asking me if I'd like to join him outside and we have a ciggie and catch up (while everyone else makes rude comments about us going outside 'for one') When he asked today I had to explain in front of a large number of colleagues that I'd given up and that I would love to chat but couldn't deal with the temptation.....then I had to stand firm while the others made me feel guilty that he had to go outside alone and keep explaining that I didn't want the temptation.....I made it. Might be back at finishing day 1 but it's the first time I've made it over that particular hurdle!!

Jellie, that's fantastic , you should be really proud of yourself for facing up to a long established ritual & overcoming it whilst being heckled. Well done.

I'm more embarassed about my whiny post than slipping up at the moment but tomorrow's a brand new day full of hope & new opportunities, enjoy your weekend Lula
