The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

Hi Jellie,
I don't see that as a failure; it's just a minor setback along the way. It's your state of mind and whether you're still determined to quit that really counts. I still don't think I'm at the point where I could say no if I was offered a cigarette, I'm just trying desperately to avoid people who smoke.
Richard
I think you'll be stronger than you think- although after today I will be trying the hermit approach for a while!
I'm really fed up with myself- I guess I need to try and remember how bad it feels to come here and admit a setback next time I'm tempted.
I'm glad you've made it through another day.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Hi all , Gosh you are all doing so well, i admire all of you who doing it by going cold turkey. I find i now know when i havent taken my tablet as i start getting cravings.
My fella has been a star tonight and brought me home some flowers and a new wireless mouse (a very expensive logitech one that the batterys last for 180 days) for my laptop as a treat for quitting. I nearly cried and he said i would be getting more things over the next few weeks if i stick to it :j .

Hey Jellie - don't beat yourself up babe - just pick yourself up and start again. You were doing well, one little blip shouldn't be the end of your efforts. If it was easy we all would have given up long ago.
Richard - tough days are part of the package I am afraid - you may be entering the mind-games phase (I suffered massively and was a complete monster to by hubby from about day 10 - 12) it does pass. Hang in there.
Naomi - what a sweetie you have there! Make sure you give him lots of special non-smoky kisses as a thank you
feedum - I miss your cigs on the table la la la

Morning all,
Well done to everyone , Ageing Biker that's fab, wishing you a very Happy3monthiversary  .
I've actually been avoiding you all for a couple of days due to intense feelings of shame -again- but thanks to Jellie for having the guts to confess I'm also here to own up
.
wednesday evening the b/f came round & had run out of tobacco so we popped down to shop & he refused to get out of car so i went into shop & next thing there I am with 10 s'luts in my hand as well as his tobacco  . I know it's no excuse & I really didnt intend on opening them  just wanted to have them. He went home, I chatted to the night owls for a bit then next thing I know I'm on the doorstep having a sly one
. Yesterday I felt down cos of the weather, read the post about it taking 6 years  for all the crap to leave your system & thought "hell, I'm still coming to terms with spending the next 2 1/2 years paying off debts & now I'm not going to be free of nicotine for 6 years, what's the point. B/f complaining that I'm so wrapped up in my debts & being a "tight !!!!" that I'm not helping him find a job. No excuse again but until I met him I'd been off the fags for 3 years . I'm doing really well with my budgeting; working, being a single parent, maintaining home, car, garden & allotment & emotionally supporting family since my mum died last year led to cracking up in march (excuse me if repeating previous posts, just need to get it all out so ignore at your pleasure) & ending up on anti-depressants.
I'm now wondering if I've got my priorities all wrong ? I thought they were to care for my daughter to the best of my ability ie : home, food, clothes, utilities, love & fun hence I need to be a happy mummy, pay off my debts so we can have better life & not have to spend holidays in a bloody tent ever again. I dont want to be on meds & aim to get off them asap & I dont want to be a fag addict either but on days like today they just make me feel better.
Sorry, I mistook the giving up smoking thread for whingers anonymous so I'm going to slope off now & wallow in self pity, smoke the last 4 fags & have a stern word with myself. I'll be back when I've got something to be proud of re the smoking.
You can do it, you can, you can, you can

Post whenever you like, lula - we don't judge!
ok - so you slipped, but just make sure to turn that into more determination for your next quit. Mistakes are only mistakes if you don't learn from them, or something like that
chin up, hey?:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
