TNG
doltage
I should really have known that as soon as I posted something embarrassing then I would be quoted
But you are right TNG - crusty is indeed the right word
See - with the smoking thread you are never alone, even when you are being gross
Had a luvverley time sunning myself (all extra half stone of me  ) in Cyprus.
Lots of sun and sand and another 's' word which I get much more of now I don't Smoke
Went to see nursie yesterday - blew a 2 again  she reckons it must be because I spend a lot of time in the car. I remember when I was sooo upset about what that little machine had to say and this time I was like 'whatever - I don't care - I KNOW I am a non-smoker' :T
To all you newbies - go back 8 weeks and I was the moaning quitter from hell - I know it's a cliche but if I can do it....
Hang on in there - it is one of the toughest things you will ever do but believe me it is SOOOOO worth it:T CONGRATS TO ALL ON YOUR MILESTONES :Tplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Hi everyone,
apologies to those I called old - timers, did think there may be a better word that encapsulates your revered status ( get me with the big words - must be those nicotine patches I was munching on earlier TNG) but just couldnt think of one at the time
.
C'mon who can come up with the best title ?
looking forward to my weekiversary (again) on saturday.
Naomi, I sympathise but it's not an excuse to quit the quitting so keep up the good work .
Well done to everyone, enjoy your evening

Everyone trying to stop smoking should find what works best for them. Maybe save the money you would have spent on fags every week, and after a month treat yourself. Imagine, I was smoking £30 at least a week, I would have ended up with £120 a months, if you feel a craving for a ciggie, go and see the money you save, and imagine what you could buy after 1, or 2 or 3 months....that's extra money you didn't have before.
As for the "bogies", some people told me that there were some strange yucky brown things coming out of their nose after they stopped for a while, but I suppose it depends on the person, and probably how long you have been smoking in the first place. I didn't have much of it. And your blood will be free of nicotine and fag related substances after 6 years of stopping. (A doctor told me). So I have 3 more years and I will be clean.
Be vigilant. You can have a craving for a cigarette months after you stopped.
I even know people who have stopped for years, and all of a sudden they did start again. If it happens, move away from where you are, and the craving will go. It is often because you will see someone smoking or you will smell the smoke. Everyone will find little tricks if they really want to stop, which is THE one most important condition for success. Do it for yourself, and not because some hypocrites are telling you that all of a sudden it's bad to smoke. Those doctors knew decades back what smoking was doing to you, you didn't hear them much then, now they are thinking of not giving you free healthcare if you smoke because they feel they can, it's kind of fashionable, but you won't see them asking the government to stop selling cigarettes in shops, even though they don't stop telling you of how many people are dying of lung cancer every year.
And congrat to all of you who are holding on and are determined to stop for good.:T0 -

Hi All,
Mark back. Over 3 months smoke free now and really enjoying the extra money, tastes, smells and lack of chest pain.
So good to see some stalwarts still going and the newbies as well.
It does take a lot of will power but keep going.
To anyone taking the NRT route, if you are worried about still being hooked on nicotine don't be. If you're like me, you find a morning when you wake up and just don't use it! I got to lunch time on that day without even thinking about my microtabs. I now use them as and when I feel like one which is getting less every day, though they are handy when you get to crisis point, like having my guinea pig put down last week. Mind you Hannah had me rewiring the house last week during that glorious weather; at least digging his grave got me in the garden for an hour (every cloud etc....).
Anyhow, best of luck to all and keep posting
MarkNearly there! Been struggling for 7 years but the results are showing. :j0 -

Well Done to both the Pro's and the Apprentices :T :T :T :T (is Pro's better than old timers??)
Well am on Day 6 of Champix, and this morning I 'forgot' to have my morning cig... I was pottering around, and when it was time to leave the house I realised I hadn't had it.. .... And the ashtray smell is starting to get to me.. :T. The tablets are still making me feel sick tho, and am worried that on Day 8 when I need to take the 1mg tablet they will make me even more ill.. Do you think it would be ok to chop it in half? anyone ever halved a Champix???
Hope everyone is ok today..

Afternoon all
Just to quickly answer a question that was asked earlier.. zyban is a depressant that was found to help people give up smoking whereas champix was "designed" specifically as a stop smoking aid.
Well done to everyone, whether you are just starting or well into your not smoking path
Only got about a week and a half left of taking champix now.. quite looking forward to coming off it as, to me, this will be a true judge of how far i've come
Keep it up everybody :T :T:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

See how you feel when you start taking them ... if you do feel quite icky then go back to your docs and they may well keep you on the 0.5mg ones:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
