    Hello!!!

Well done to all! Richard... keep coming here and talking about your cravings... maybe then if you get it out of your system, you won't want to actually want a ciggie?

I'm still doing well... haven't had any cravings as such, just 'forget' sometimes and think.. 'right, ciggie time!' and then remember that I don't smoke! :D

    today's stats:

12 days, 22 hours, 47 minutes and 59 seconds smoke free.

    129 cigarettes not smoked.
£39.00 and 23 hours of your life saved.

    Hi Little Pickle,

I do have a read through this Thread when I'm at work, even though I can't always log-on, and it does help to know that other people are going through the same, or similar feelings.

    :D Hello Everyone - I am back!!!

A week sunning myself in Paphos and not a cigarette in sight (well there were LOTS and LOTS in sight, just none of them being smoked by me!) - I think I have finally cracked it :T 8 weeks, 2 days and a lifetime of difference!

There seems to be a lot of new names knocking about - hope everyone is doing well and I am sure that this thread is proving to be a real support to you all.

A week of sun and  and no ciggies - I LOVE BEING A NON-SMOKER :j

    Hi MFD,

That's one heck of an achievement, there's something about a holiday that seems to lend itself to having a smoke. I was only thinking the other day how I'd get on when we manage to get away this year.:cool:

Maybe I should stay at home and not get in temptation's way.:eek:

    What a truly awful thought.

    Hi Puzzledbubbles,

There's no need to apologise for a post like that; it was very touching. It's certainly stopped me hankering after a cigarette, and I'm going to have to find some tissues now.:cry:

    Hi PB,

I've not seen the advert but I can see the attraction.:D:D I've got an almost endless supply of nuts and dried fruit, grapes, cranberry juice, some happy berries that my O.H picked up from a health shop: I can't remember their name, and whenever I have a craving I just dive in.:eek: I've got a diet that an average finch would be proud of.:rolleyes:

I honestly don't think I could say no, if I was offered a cigarette, so I don't envy you going out this evening; it's a h3ll of a temptation. I feel so much better for not smoking, but that doesn't stop me craving a cigarette; crazy, crazy, crazy.:confused:

I had been a heavy smoker for 20 years and now I stopped smoking totally 3 years ago. I didn't use any patches or anything, and what made me want to stop smoking was when I made the calculation of how much money a year I was spending on fags. (and not the fact that I had a cough every morning, pathetic....)
I did it my own way, I first try to understand the habit. I had heard that the physical addiction lasts only a few days (some have told me a few weeks), I didn't want to stop too drastically as I wanted to quit for good.
My habits were smoking while waiting for the bus and during breaks at work. So instead of smoking I was playing games on my mobile instead of having a fag. It was keeping my mind and my hands busy and away from fags. (and probably I had swapped the habit of smoking with the habit of playing games).
In the evening I was smoking a couple of cigarettes without inhaling the smoke (reminded me of my first fag).I did that for six months, then it got on my own nerves as it wasn't doing anything for me anymore so I have thrown away any tobacco and rizlas I had left, and never smoke again after that.
The tricky bit was the weekends. That's when the food came in. I remember a particular weekend when I was wondering what I could eat next while eating frantically the food I had got out of the fridge a few minutes before, and I have done that all day:eek: That little voice in my head was telling me I was going mad, but I knew it was temporary, maybe that habit of getting something to your mouth was fighting hard with my willpower at the time.
I remember every time I was crossing someone smoking and I had a whiff of cigarette smoke, my mind was licking its lips in anticipation but my lungs were contracting and were screaming NOOOOOOOO, NOT AGAAAAAAIN.......
I had no fags in three years, and a few weeks ago I've stopped playing games too. I am totally free, and it feels great. I had to run for the bus the other day, and I was surprised on how Not out of breath I was, when if I had smoke I would have suffocated on the pavement by the time I had reached the doors.
Saying that, even though I do not intend to smoke again, I do miss the "companionship" of fag smoking, there was definitively something there that was agreable.
My guess is that if I was to reincarnate and was young again with new lungs, I would be so tempted to smoke again, if only for a few years.......... but never again in this life.:)

Thanks for that Spark. Well done!
I'm finding it tough to dissociate some activities and smoking. I hardly smoke but the few I have are so regular I'm finding it stupidly hard to resist. I don't think it's a chemical thing now as I'm a few days in.

    Well done to everyone today,

Jelie, same as that on the habits ; phone calls, after a big meal, the cup of coffee ... aaaggh. Had 2 days without a craving so no nicorette, they kicked back in again today, actually relieved as thought it was going too well.

Richard - smokers who dont want to give up also dont want you to give up so they can have someone to smoke with, they will always offer you a cigarette or let you have one if you ask. It makes them feel better. I have a friend who knows I'm quitting & thinks the fact that I 'only' smoked about 6 a day is fine. I know this person will always let me have one if i ask, so now I'll make sure i never do.

We can do it, we can, we can, we can :D

Good morning everyone, congratulations on another smoke free night and heres to another smoke free day! It's good to see the new (normal carbon monoxide level) blood keeping this thread fresh with their attempts at stopping, hopefully it will provide you with an outlet that you wouldn't have elsewhere.

Haven't been about as much as I would've liked since the end of last week but I was at a stag do and I'm still not fully recovered, no smoking though so I'm happy enough.

Well done to everyone, it's a very difficult thing you are undertaking and make sure you reward yourself regularly so that you're constantly aware of how well you're doing-it does wonders for your confidence and also makes you aware of how disappointed you would be if you gave in to the silly temptations!

Hope the weapons of choice (champix, cold turkey, patches etc.) are still working their magic!

Doltage - Nice work, great to go away on a stag do and not smoke! its been a while for you now since you stopped on the 31/3, how are you feeling?

Lula Hula - keep going, with other people on this thread its such a confidence booster! I know we can all do it together :)

Spark...I have just bought the wii fit, so i hope to regain my fitness again. Its a shame i have no really exercised in over a year and smoking in that period has done me no favours. I went to play a game of racketball and could only last for 20 minutes. How long have you been smoke free now?

Jellie, you are doing well so keep going. It is physchological so just be strong and soon you will break free from the routine you were in.

Have a good smoke free day everyone
