Hello Everyone - I am back!!!
A week sunning myself in Paphos and not a cigarette in sight (well there were LOTS and LOTS in sight, just none of them being smoked by me!) - I think I have finally cracked it :T 8 weeks, 2 days and a lifetime of difference!
There seems to be a lot of new names knocking about - hope everyone is doing well and I am sure that this thread is proving to be a real support to you all.
A week of sun and  and no ciggies - I LOVE BEING A NON-SMOKER :j :cool:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Morning all, i havent been sleeping very well since i quit, does anyone know how long this will last for?
Two days, 10 hours, 24 minutes and 23 seconds. 48 cigarettes not smoked, saving £6.08. Life saved: 4 hours, 0 minutes.0 -
Hi Naomi,
Today is day 7 for me, and last night was the first decent night's sleep I've had during those 7 days.  Of course we're all different and it'll also depend on whether you're using NRT or Champix.

Despite having arrived at Day 7 without having a smoke, the first thing I thought when I woke up this morning was "coffee and a smoke," and despite being a relatively easy craving to ignore it's still with me.
Now, here's the question I asked myself. The chances of me sucumbing and buying a pack of cigarettes are negligible, but, if I was offered one by somebody else, would I have the conviction to say "no thanks, I don't smoke"?
To be honest, I think there's only a 50/50 chance that I'd say no thanks, so I've still got a long way to go.

Morning Everyone,
Richard I hope that huge craving has passed. Your post reminded me of my thoughts this morning - I was driving to work wondering how long it actually takes to become a 'proper non smoker' when we no longer have to battle with the thoughts, nor the cravings, nor the habits...... I wonder if its a month, two months, three months!. I see My Fathers Daughter seems to have done it 8 weeks (well done Fathers Daughter :T :T :T ).
I am on Day 4 of champix (up to 2 x 0.5mgs today), and wonder if you champix users could give me a little advice... What day is best to give up?, I know many people can't wait until day 14.. Cigs already taste a little different to me, and make me feel a little bit sick sometimes.
Kirsty - Do you just have to half the blue tablets?, or has your Doc given you some 0.5mg tablets? I hope your sickness and dizzyness passes..
I suspect I may have to stay on the 0.5mg tablets too... I feel really sick after taken them, so not sure how the 1mg will make me feel.. It does pass, but yesterday I drove to work with a carrier bag on my knee incase I threw up!! (sorry, tmi). On a more positive champix note - my mood seems ok.
Good Luck Everyone... Everyones doing fab, and being so so strong :cool:0 -
Good luck Honeypie! You keep going and you will be there soon! Day 3 for me, its so nice to know other people are going through the same emotions as me. This morning i had my first coffee since i had given up and then the craving returned. Is there some sort of link between smoking for coffee?
Last night i slept a lot better than the day before, and now hope that most of the nitocteen have left my body. Have a good smoke free day all.0 -
Hi Jfox,
Are you going cold turkey... ? Well done - Day 3, thats great..
I think the coffee thing is more because us smokers associate it with smoking... coffee in one hand, fag in the other!. Mine would be tea... I will also have to quit saying 'I will have a cup of tea and a tab, and then do x y z'.... :rotfl:0 -
Yes, that makes sense
I read the Alan Carr book last year in feb and gave up for a week. Then i started smoking again after a relationship i was in at the time ended and a night out with the boys at the pub ensured i started again. I was weak at the time.
So i finally got round to watching the Alan Carr Dvd (book was too boring to read for a second time). I found the dvd a great help and its only an hour, so my thinking is that if i have a weak moment i shall just put the dvd player on again for the feel good feeling and encouragment to carry on.
Did you go cold turkey? Day 4 is great, one step ahead of me...i look forward to the day when we aren't on here anymore as we've completely forgotton about it!0 -
Hi naomi,
not on champix, just using nicorette gum when / if cravings hit, that's what so weird ! Usually had 5/6 a day & had last one 9.00pm friday, how do I work out how much life I ve saved ? Oooh, not saving loads of money but guess I should put it away towards paying off debts, must be a tenner a week at least.
Hi Lula.. I downloaded a little tool called silkquit (search on google and it should come up)
My stats
Smober time 1 Month 2 Weeks 10 Hours 48 Mins
Amount saved £195.82
Ciggies not smoked 681
Life saved 2 days 8 hours 45 mins!
Well done to all you non smokers :T :T :j :j
and welcome back MFD:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0
