I feel absolutely brilliant, i feel like running down the street screaming i have give up smoking, i must admit i thought it was going to be a lot harder than this. Mowed the front and back lawns this morning, going to do some housework now, also i think you get more done when your not stopping for a fag break every 5 minutes. Well done everyone.

Can i ask also what were everyones reasons for giving up eg health, money, etc.

My reason was me and my partner have been trying for a baby for 3 years without success and i thought giving up smoking could help as there seems to be no other reason why we cant conceive, my partner gave up 6 months ago.

Morning (ish) all ... hope we're all having another lovely smokefree day!

Saw some of you were struggling a bit over the weekend .. all I can say is that it does get better but it is hard I know :(

Cold turkey folks are doing amazingly .. could never do it that way :T

Personally I had two main reasons ... first is because a while a go I had a punctured lung, shortly followed by acute bronchitus and the doc told me i should... tried really hard but failed (after a few months smokefree  )

This time though.. it's because I went bankrupt .. realised that a fair chunk of my surplus income would be going on ciggies and thought that that really isn't the way I want to live for the next year, went to docs and asked for champix and so far so good :D
    :hello:
Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.

    Hey everyone,

Richard, sorry to hear about your toes , if you dont mind I shall think of them each time I have a weak moment.

Got through saturday fine, the b/f came over & I very firmly told him that he must not smoke within sight or smell of me & he's now thinking of quitting himself :D.

Yesterday we spent all day in the garden, chopping down unruly trees, digging, weeding, teaching DD to play badminton (much patience required ) & generally having fun.

Know what, we were so occupied I didnt even think of having a cigarette all day, so didnt even use a nicorette :D.

Busy day with work today then going to stay out in garden as long as possible with DD, keeping busy certainly helps.

Keep up the mission everyone ;)

    Hi Naomi,

It seems as though you've had a busy morning, and that's what works for me. I also noticed how much longer I can stay working at something and I'd only been stopped 4-5 days over the weekend.

As for reasons for stopping they were health primarily, I'm no longer in the glorious "flush of youth" and of course the financial benefits. We no longer have access to credit so we need a cash cushion to smooth over any unforseen circumstances, and quitting smoking seemed like a good way of adding to it..

    Hi Lula,

I was only jesting about my toes, but I appreciate it's not a joke. I've got a summary of the scary things smoking does to your body and gangrene is just one of them; particularly affecting extremeties like toes.

Fortunately, I'm still in one piece and continuing to feel the improvement of not having had a smoke since last Tuesday.
