Can i ask also what were everyones reasons for giving up eg health, money, etc.

My reasons for quitting are mainly health worrys - There is cancer in my family, and I don't want to ever have to tell my DS I am ill, and my smoking could have contributed to it... DS is always on my case to stop too :o . The financial aspects aren't enough to drive me to stop.... So basically if I was guaranteed not to get some nasty illness that could kill me I would stay smelly, and anti-social, and continue to smoke  . But we all know I don't have that guaranetee, so bring on the Champix :rotfl:

Good Luck Everyone - I hope Monday is being kind to you all. :T :T

For me, I stopped for health reasons. Not for the numerous fatal diseases, one of which I surely would have got. Not for the wheezing chest, making any physical exertion difficult, declining in to respiratory and mobility problems. Not for the likely lung cancer I would have got, reducing me to a shell of a human being. Not for any of those reasons, as smokers can rationalise it all quite well and think that it may not happen to them

I did it so that my kids would not have to watch me go through all that. I love them far too much for that.......

    Hi Lula,

I was only jesting about my toes, but I appreciate it's not a joke. I've got a summary of the scary things smoking does to your body and gangrene is just one of them; particularly affecting extremeties like toes.

Arthur Askey, the music hall comedian, was told to quit smoking or lose both his legs..... guess which he chose.......

i gave up for health reasons, and wealth reasons ,but mainly beacause it wasn't fun anymore ,i dont like the fact i can't smoke when i am out so i wont smoke:confused: .where hubby works they are going to stop you having a ciggy if wearing company clothes,no logo visable if you are smoking ,it really is becoming the biggest sin to smoke, goverment was all ready to go to war on junk food when prices soared ,watch the price of ciggys now they will be 6 pounds a packet this time next year, can't pick on unhealthy eating ,watch out smokers  they are after you, i am now off my soapbox:D

I gave up for purely selfish reasons

I wanted to see my Young children develop into adults and lead them by the hand when asked.

I did not want to lessen my odds of that occuring..

    Hi all!!
I watched Alan Carr dvd on saturday and now approaching my 48th hour without a ciragette. Going from over 10 a day to zero was easy at first but it is getting slightly difficult now, perhaps its becacuse i'm back at work and tryin to break the patterns i have slowly got myself into over the last two years.

Alan Carr method is the best. Anyone who is ready to give up, should seriously consider his methods.

I hope that after the three days tomrrow, when 90% of nicotine has left my system the cravings will go. I walked past a few smokers downstairs ealier and the smell was horrid!!

I'll keep you posted on my progress over the next few days.
