  • Well done. I stopped one week ago, OH stopped on Thursday. One think I found helped is increased exercise. Push yourself physically and it kills the craving. Take up running - want inspiration - www.runnersworld.co.uk
    Very best of luck.

Not impressed with myself. Friday's psychotically bad mood led me to fall off the wagon on Friday night after a few drinks and I'd gone a full 5 days without a cigarette. Funny thing is I thought I'd love it but it didn't taste nice (which stupidly didn't stop me from smoking the whole damn thing).

This giving up smoking thing is very hard indeed.
  • Vicola have you sucumbed since??? You can still do it and you're still a quitter - just climb back aboard.

Vicola perhaps have a chat with a no smoking advisor at Boots - maybe because you've already gone 5 days cold turkey the nrt chewing gum or lozenges may help and take the edge of the mood swings. I

    Good luck.

Hi guys, haven't been on for a while but not because I've failed, I am still a non smoker! I moved house a few weeks ago so it was really good to go to my new gp and say that I had given up! Didn't stop her banging on about my weight though (which isn't that bad). If its not one thing its another with these doctors!
This last week has been really hard for me, but not because of cravings or anything, my OH has been a nightmare. He gave up the same day as me and found it really easy for the first few days, whereas I found it really hard. As it goes on I'm finding it easier, whereas he's finding it harder. He was really horrible to me at the weekend, shouting at me in front of my family (on my birthday) and generally making an embarrassment out of himself. It got to the point where I wanted to just buy him some cigs and have him back to normal.

I really hope this is a phase for him and that he gets his personality back soon. I offered him some gum but he wouldn't take it, so don't know what else to do. Sorry for the moan guys, hope everyone else is doing good.
    Quit smoking 12th July 07 :j
  • Olive my oh was much the same a complete a**e hole!! Seems better now but I think he may be sneaking the odd ciggie - fine if thats what he needs and I prefer not to know cause it may make the temptation too much for me! Hope things improve for you soon and good luck in your new home!

Olive, sounds as though his time to give up isn't here yet. Sorry he upset you on your birthday (virtual belated birthday drinks for you!). Well done on not using that to start yourself, you are being very strong.

    His time will come :)

Olive - I was exactly the same as your OH last week. By Friday I was such a king sized !!!!! that my OH kept telling me to go and have a cig to try and get me back to normal. The mood swings thing will pass, just give him a few days. I am far less rabid today than I was on Friday and I'm sure he'll be the same. Good luck!
