Morning all,
Choccy, welcome  you are in the right place (I think!!), good luck for tonight, we will all be here in the morning for you!
Costa, don't worry I've been on and off the wagon a couple of times since I started this thread, mostly on it luckily! Which Boots in London did you go to cos I went to the one in Hays Galleria and they didn't do a clinic in there and the pharmacy in SE1 that I visited was most unhelpful.
Well I'm having a b**** of all days at the moment, my car's broke and is going to take my £500 savings for my holiday next month to fix it, so today is going to be wobbly. I'm just going to sit in the corner over here, so just ignore me - trying to soak up the non-smoking vibes when you all walk in and out of the thread...
Right I am going to tell her tomorrow, and that will be it - I will take the consequences!!!
Jo - I worked in Chancery Lane, and went to the one by Hatton Garden - they were great, the thing is once you sign up you have to stay with that particular branch. In Tunbridge Wells, they do it completely different, they prescribe you a week at a time, not two weeksOfficial DFW Nerd Club - member no: 538

Hi Jo - sorry you're having a sh***y day. On a positive note the £500 (in relative terms) will be easier to save now you're not spending £35+ a week on fags! You going anywhere nice?
Hi Costa I share your feeling of wanting to but not wanting to, I still feel that now - doh! After many of my failed attempts to quit I became a secret smoker trying to pretend to myself and everyone else that I wasn't smoking and I feel that actually makes the addiction worse psychologically. I also maintained my feeling of rebellion from my teenage years , smoking was my sign of not conforming to societies rules - how childish and sad is that (and I'm 42!). I would definately be honest with the lady in Boots I doubt she will judge you I'm sure she will help.
Have a smoke n stress free day all.
love n hugs

Costa, definately tell her you want to be upgraded to step 1 lol! I'm sure she's seen it all before and would be happy that you're doing that rather than on the path to failure if you don't feel strong enough yet. We're going to Butlins in Bognor btw!
IDA, I started smoking in the first place at 13 cos it was soooo cool and I looked so big, funny how 22 years later I suddenly look soooo stupid and small doing it!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi all
Well its that time of day again - grrrr. The thought of having the freedom to smoke is so tempting - thats a laugh isn't it - smoking means I'm a prisoner to it yet I consider my freedom revoked because I can't/won't have one! Hmmm that is our deep thought for the day - what does freedom mean??
Freedom means ................. not having to have a cigarette even though Mr O'Teen keeps encouraging me!
Hope you are all okay - quiet on here today!
love n hugs

Hi all,
Sorry, not going to be around much, but will always stop in here to offer what help I can to you lovely people
Costa - rule no. 1 - tell the truth. You won't be getting the correct help/advice if they think you are doing something you're not (or vice versa). Good luck
IDA -PROPER freedom is when you are free of the beast! Keep going!
jo - shame about the car, but stay strong. A cig won't help anything and you know how much sh***ier you'll feel if you do have one
best wishes all - welcome newbies:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hello again everyone, just checking out the thread to up my motivation for my quite time which my little silk quit meter tells me is 16 hours 55m and 3 seconds away!
Feel much more motivated actually as my sister has said she will quit with me as well. First real test will be a party on Saturday night, but she will also be there so we can give each other moral support. Can't keep putting it off because of social occasions coming up - I think that is what we have always done... just get this out of the way then I will stop, just get that out of the way and then I will stop and here we are 30 years later!
This is a great thread for motivation, keep it up guys and see you all tomorrow if not later!0 -
Welcome and well done choccy! You certainly sound motivated!
love and luck to you n your sister.
Hope everyone else is having a smoke free day.

I'm on day 5 of giving up smoking and I am ready to admit I may have underestimated the challenge. I am trying to do it cold turkey but I think it's time to concede that I need help.
I'm like a volcano, apt to go off for no reason and with no warning, showering those around me with sarcasm and anger. I also want to cry when the computer freezes or the tv schedule is changed or the wind changes etc. I've only been like this for 2 days and already I've offended 2 people and fallen out with my husband.
Does anyone know of anything at all that can help with the mood swings because if I don't do something I'm going to end up a divorcee with no friends??!!:eek:0 -
Hi Vicola and welcome
This is perfectly normally, espesh if you are doing it cold turkey. I have done it cold turkey before and it didn't work for me, my temperament won't allow it! My advice to you would be to try some sort of NRT, patches are the best for me. They make you feel like you've just had a fag although don't take away the cravings completely. But you do feel more able to cope with it.
Good luck and keep coming back to this thread to rant, rave or gloat in your own pride for being smoke free
We're all in the same boat!
