Hi Jo & IDA,
Many thanks for asking after mum - she has stabilised and they think that the root of the troubles is a combination of severe anaemia and infection. They have pumped three pints of blood into her and a whole load of antibiotics. She is a lot better today thank you - cracking jokes and moaning about the food - mind you she is 85 so she's allowed to moan.:rotfl:
I also am desperate between 5pm and 9pm - really peculiar that - same time as my girls used to have colic when they were babies, maybe its a stress related memory!!!!
Keep going all, we're doing brilliantly and should be quite rightly incredibly proud of ourselves - if not a little smug!:T :T :T
Take care everyone,
TillyThanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!:T THANK YOU:T0 -
I'm finding this a lot more difficult then I first thought. Was really tearful in the afternoon for no particular reason, had a gum which I didn't want to do and it did calm me down. Its awful knowing that without the cigs I turn into a head case! Definately going through peaks and troughs. Feeling light headed as well.
Thats my rant of the day over, hope everyone's days were a lot easier than mine!
Olive, why don't you try patches? They make you feel as thought you've just had a fag and although it doesn't put you off smoking you feel as though you don't need one right now. If the gum makes you feel light headed you might wanna try the lowest strength ones though. They are BOGOF in Tesco at the minute.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
I cleared the 3month smoke free mark on Thursday. The reasons not to smoke automatically kick in whenever i have a weak moment now or waht i call a 'flat ' moment you know those times when you feel like something is missing?, coming on here always straightens me out again though, reading back through the posts there are always plenty of exmples of people who have not given in even under great moments of stress, or when out drinking, or when just bored, its such an inspiration!0

How true Fieryblondescot, I've found it quite tough today (again), which is annoying because I really thought 'd be over the worst by now! But have to keep reminding myself that I'd be in this mood regardless of smoking or not .. its my mardy time of the month if you know what I mean! However Mr O'Teen is teasing and taunting and trying to take advantage of my misery (lol) but I'm wise to him and will fight him from every angle my pmt actually give me the advantage to growl!!! Plus I'll keep doing the deep breathing - works a treat!!
Hope everyone else is enjoying a smoke free day.
love n hugs

Hi everyone I am new to Money Saving Expert and one of my ways I would love to be able to do to save more money is to quit smoking. And also because we want to save for a cheap registry office wedding and we are also being referred to the fertility clinic on the 30th of July and the first question they will ask is ''Do you smoke?'' ... I would love to be able to say ''NO I DON'T!!''
I'm very nervous about joining you all and trying to quit again as I don't want to let anyone down, but I have tried many times alone and have not succeeded so I thought joining you all might help.
The dr won't give me anything to help, and because I'm trying for a baby it would be best for me to do it cold turkey.
If anyone has any tips that would be great. And if I can join you all, then I will make my pledge for the day I will become smoke free and I will keep you all updated with my progress.
Thanks for letting me join you all.
Take care and have a great weekend!

Hi Jane, welcome to MSE  and welcome to the non-smoking thread!
I'm sure there are safe NRT's for you to take when you are pregnant (congrats by the way! Still very very broody, met my new 2 day old neice today!!). I think you should ring up your local cessation clinic and see what they can advise.
Good luck, stick with us and you'll be fine

Hi Jane
Good decision and excellent reasons, wedding and a baby!! I'm currently almost at 3 weeks cold turkey, having tried with nrt in the past, this is definately working for me - not easy though but worth it!!! The support you get on here is ace too. Try and get hold of Allen Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking book and others recommed the Neil Casey book but I haven't found that yet. Page 1 of this thread has a list of useful websites including the silkquit metre that I have found invaluble since quitting - it tells you how long you've been stopped, how much you've saved and how much longer you have on your life. Hope all this is info overload and look forward to welcoming you as a quitter. Take care.

Hello quitters, hope you are all okay.
IDA why don't you make a doll and stick pins in it when Mr Teen annoys you.
Was a bit dissapointed with Newsgroup_ monkeys reply I didn't think I would have to do so much work at the gym, I have never been to a gym before. I thought you walked in messed about on the equipment and the pounds fell off. Well I will give it a go.
I trusted 'im indoors to walk the dog on his own. And what happened? He bought ANOTHER tub of ice cream MORE wafers and some lemon iced cakes. Why? because we were nearly out of ice cream and I know you like those cakes. Yes I do too much. He is so good to me I can't be cross.
Happy quitting all,
Take care,

Hi all
Right, had a slight slip on friday - had one cig and then felt soooo bad about it. So haven't had another since and actually feeling much stronger about it all this time.
I asked about NRT when I found out I was pg with my first child - had been smoking 30 a day- dr wouldn't give me anything and fortunately I felt sick soon after so that helped.
Might be worth seeing how much smoking cuts your fertility down and then posting this up somewhere? (to the woman who wants to quit as is starting at the fertility clinic - sorry forgot your name an dit's on the last page!).

Hi everyone hope your smoking free days are going well. Sorry I don't personally know all your names yet,but to the person who had 1 smoke while quitting.... it's only 1 cig and it is much better to go back and have 1 smoke and then carry on smoke free... than to just give in and become and full on smoker yet again. So don't worry about your mistake and good luck with becoming 100% smoke free again.
I'm hoping you can all advice me on how to prepare myself... I will be quitting .smoking tomorrow Monday 16th July. My problem is... my walk to work takes half an hour, in which I usually smoke 3 cigs... then at lunch time I chain smoke 2 as I get no breaks in between... and then on the way home it's another 2... with god knows how many in the evening.
I really need some help in how to stop myself from giving in. I mean 1 thing that will help is that we now have £0 until the 28th July... and even then we can't really afford cigarrettes. We spend £20 yesterday and food and didn't even manage to get that much lol.
Hope your all ok xxx jane xxxMy baby boy is now 8 weeks old.
