Morning all,
First of all WELL DONE IDA!!! 3 WEEKS WOOOHOOOOOO!!! :T  :j  :T :j
Can you tell I'm pleased for ya? :rotfl:
Jane and Pablo, welcome to the thread  you will find lots of support here, we are all in the same boat. Good luck to you both
Well I've had a well dodgy weekend. Pablo, I understand completely your sentiments on smoking and alcohol, I only drink at weekends and so find the weekends the most difficult time, I cadged a fag of my OH last night, smoked half of it and put it out. It tasted absolutely disgusting, made me cough, plus I woke up this morning and my mouth tasted awful. Funny thing is I've woke up today with a bit of a cold coming on I think, glands in my neck are swollen and I generally feel like s*** so that will put me off smoking anyway, maybe it's a sign to stop me lighting up again?
So my patch is well and truely stuck on this morning and I was coming to work trying to remember the Allen Carr mantra and I need one of you AC followers to remind me, I'm not giving up something, I'm......??
I can't remember for the life of me what he said?
Hope you all have a wonderful smoke free day!

Oops sorry :eek::eek::eek:
Welcome too to the new people in the group (I'm new here too - just join in)
Talking about beer..... I had 1 or 2 too many in the pub on Saturday but strangely didn't fancy a fag at any time.
I think the "No Smoking" beermats all over the table might have had something to do with it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

Jo, good one for only having a half and putting it out. Remember, you're not giving something up you're gaining..

Like what Olive said.
plus....
1. The return of your confidence and courage.
2. Freedom from the slavery
3. Not to go through life suffering the awful black shadows at the back of your mind, knowing you are being despised by half (?) of the population and, worst of all, despising yourself.
Just remember, how nice it is not to be enslavened by the demon weed and Mr Nick O'Teen!
Don't forget chapter 21 too
The Advantages of being a Smoker.
I did actually have one, but I've realised it's been taken away - We used to have a Smoking room. If you went in there, smoked quietly and listened, you could actually find out all the company gossip and plans (the CEO was a heavy smoker at the time). Not no more.
New CEO no longer smokes and we don't have a proper smoking room. The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

Afternoon all
Well day 1 of week 4 really pleased to be here. Has anyone else found that they are "picking" at food more? My clothes (which didn't have much room in before) are growing tighter by the day (must be that hot wash that ILA was talking about) and I'm getting annoyed. Now I know I can't use putting on weight as an excuse to start smoking again but I really don't want to put on weight (really can't afford to put on any weight) - so the "picking" has to stop. I'm not eating that much more and a lot of extra I am eating is fruit, lets hope its just my metabolism and it will get back to normal.
Hope you're all having a smoke free day

Hello everyone - do you have room for a little one? My Silk quit meter tells me I have 2days 3 hours and 39 mins until my quit date (i.e. tomorrow at midnight!) and I AM NOT READY!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I guess you are never ready to give up smoking, but having smoked for the best part of 35 years which has crept up from 2 or 3 to 9 or 10 to now 20 - 25 a day enough is enough!
I have joined a smoking cessation group at my office and tomorrow is our "quit date" I have my patches all ready and also my inhalator. I will be taking Allen Carr to bed with me tonight
I have "tried" dozens of times to give up but really hate myself that other people CAN and I never seem to make it. I am much more determined this time, but like most career smokers cannot imagine what life will be without my little "friends". How sad is that?
That is exactly what I mean when I say that enough is enough.. I am fed up of being a slave and the fact that actually they are now controlling my life!
God Help me I am determined this time (if not quite ready!! LOL)..

Welcome Choccy - you can be sure you're among non-judgemental, supportive friends here! We're really all in this together, some new to the game, others a bit further on and some positive old timers!!! When I stopped I didn't feel "ready" either, but just decided it was now or never - and one of the things that has kept me going is that if I give in this time I'll never give up again and will be a smoker for the rest of my life - now that is scary. Humour is a good aid to, trying to see the funny side (?) of your craving - I have a monster in me called Mr Nick O'Teen and I am stronger that he is and I will defeat him. I have on occasions had a "happy" devil on one shoulder, smoking a cigarette and blowing smoke into my face whilst a "solomn" angel sits on the other shaking its head and sighing - omg the temptation was strong but I rode the waves. And you will too, don't look a week ahead, or even a day ahead, just take each hour, each minute as it comes and you will and can do it!!
I do hope this doesn't sound to sancitmonious(sp) its not supposed to, its supposed to be inspirational - lol!!
Take care, good luck - love n hugs

Hi Guys, i am now prepared to bare my soul!!!
After about the 5th time trying to give up I decided the the 29th Jan 07 would be my quit date, I joined the smoking clinic at my local boots in London where I worked at the time. I did really well I went 2 months smoke free. I then left my job to start another in Kent, with a weeks leave in between, when I started smoking again.
I have been dipping in and out of starting and stopping but mostly starting - and joined the local boots in kent when I started work again.
The problem is that I am finding it really difficult this time and am not sure if I want to stop (but i do!!) I sound crazy don't I.
I am on stage two of the patches, do you think I should tell my boots lady the truth and go back on to the stage 1 if she lets me.

Hi Costa, well done for deciding to stop, thats the 1st stage anyway! I'm by no means experienced at this, I've smoked 20 a day for at least 5 years, and less before that, and I've only been stopped for 5 days! But I would reckon that you should tell your boots lady the truth. I'm doing the Boots program as well and she gave me 105 4mg nicotine gums for my first week because I was really honest and said I smoked loads and I was really going to miss it. I reckon that if you tell her you're struggling she's up your dose.
Good luck though, and you don't sound crazy at all, I feel exactly the same as you, I want to stop but I don't want to, but I know I have to! Its very confusing!Quit smoking 12th July 07 :j0 -
Morning all,
Choccy, welcome  you are in the right place (I think!!), good luck for tonight, we will all be here in the morning for you!
Costa, don't worry I've been on and off the wagon a couple of times since I started this thread, mostly on it luckily! Which Boots in London did you go to cos I went to the one in Hays Galleria and they didn't do a clinic in there and the pharmacy in SE1 that I visited was most unhelpful.
Well I'm having a b**** of all days at the moment, my car's broke and is going to take my £500 savings for my holiday next month to fix it, so today is going to be wobbly. I'm just going to sit in the corner over here, so just ignore me - trying to soak up the non-smoking vibes when you all walk in and out of the thread...DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
