  • Thanks Jo!
Had such a bad day yesterday - think its this miserable weather - having no summer is really getting me down. Then the news about all the floods and I feel guilty cause I should be counting my blessings!! Feeling a bit sh**** today too and I know a fag won't make things better but omg I'm sooo tempted!! I'm angry I still feel like this because sometimes it just feels like a constant battle - I know all the rewards but feel myself waining!! However must find my humerous side again and make light of all this otherwise I'm going to go mad!!! Mr Nick O'Teen I will defeat you - lol!!
Hope everyone else is having a more cheerful day.
    love and hugs

  • To all of you non/ex smokers a question; could this bad mood, craving, temptation (which is getting worse!) be my quitting experience peaking and things may improve if I get past this? Only positive answers please - lol!

  • I'm still here! Haven't fallen off the wagon or anything.

I'm just amazed. I never thought I could do this, but 3 and a half weeks later, it's getting easier every day!

I saw a couple of smoker friends at the weekend and they were absolutely amazed. One of them is going to read the Allen Carr book this week.

IDA: Well done! keep it up!

Come on everyone, don't let it get you down!

REMEMBER: YOU SHOULD BE PROUD THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER A SMOKER!

I really think that the nicotine withdrawal symptoms are small. The hardest part to break is the habit - putting a ciggy to your lips. I would suggest trying to find a goal which has nothing to do with smoking. Losing weight or saving money etc. Focus on that completely and you will hopefully forget about the smoking part.

    You can do this.

If you take a drag you know it will taste so foul and you'll hate yourself for doing it.
  • Hello all you non smokers. I gave up 4 weeks ago yesterday. I am using Champix and very sorry to say this bit it has been very easy. So far.

    So, positive thoughts.

People not backing off from smelly smokers breath.
OH saying how much better the flat smells now
No nasty clearing your throat all the time
Taking deep breaths of clean air
    Being a bit richer
PINK TONGUE {IDA has one} so do I
Your lungs getting rid of gunk
    Clean fresh hair and clothes
Paintwork will stay whiter as will ceilings
    Lovely clean teeth
    More energy
    Ateries becoming un - clogged
    Longer life
Not having to go outside the pub for one
Laughing at those who do have to go outside for one
Moaning about all the butts they leave outside
Hope that helps for now it can only get better we are ALL DOING SO WELL be proud of ourselves we have earned it.
Have not gone back to the gym but have bought a tricycle instead. Will explain why another time.
Keep on quitting, take care all,

  • Hello Everyone - I am still here, but my laptop blew up (well not exactly blew up but died) - so I haven't taken up the weed again. Just been to Boots to get my 2nd week's worth of patches. Have decided not to have the 24 hour ones though as I was waking up exhausted after dreaming contstantly all night! So will now go onto the 16 hour ones from tomorrow.

I have that very light headed feeling still and reading a previous post from someone am wondering whether the strength of the patches are too much for me? Any advice welcome.

Well done everyone for perservering - it isn't easy, but it IS worth it!!

Hi all, hope everyone's getting on ok.

I haven't been on for a few days, not because i have succumbed to the weed, but because i've been very busy.

I can't believe i've gone three weeks without a ciggie!

I had a bit of a dodgy night last Sunday. Don't tell the police, but i have some 'wacky baccy' left in the house, and on Sunday i felt very tempted to have some telling myself that it's not really smoking...a bit of weed now and again will not turn you back into a smoker...etc.

While in a few months i think i can confidently say to myself that i am an ex-smoker, i think it's still too early to make that claim, and so i resisted the weed in case i was using it as a proxy for a fag. I'm glad i did; i'm sure i would have felt a complete loser if i had given in to the temptation.

I'm still using the 2mg gums. I'm not sure the nicotine in them is helping much, but i think it's the habit of munching on something at the time of cravings that is helping; it's keeping my mouth occupied (fnar, fnar!).

Keep up the good work all.

***Three weeks, two days, 15 hours, 37 minutes and 56 seconds. 354 cigarettes not smoked, saving £78.58. Life saved: 1 day, 5 hours, 30 minutes.***
'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it....for much longer!'
  • Hi all, I'm still here too. Firstly well done IDA!! 1 month in already!! I'm on 3w 6d 52m...so not long now and it's a month for me. Really well dont to all you others for quitting and Olive..hope you're hubby says "sorry" when the cravings subside and he realises he was sooooo rude to you on your birthday.

I've had an awful couple of days when a fag would've been blessed relief. Yesterday I had to take my 7yr old Rosie to the dentist with toothache, the dentist ended up taking out a broken wobbly anyway, milk tooth with the most enormous roots I've ever seen!!! My poor baby went into shock and had to have the "feet above the heart" treatment before the dentist would let her go:eek:

Today my new bank has totally ****ed up and I've incurred bank charges AGAIN through no fault of my own and I've spent the rest of the day phoning around and chasing around to sort it out. One very angry letter written to new bank (acct closed) one very nice man at old bank £85 charges refunded.
But......I've not had a fag and I'm treating myself to having my hair cut tomorrow. Yipee!!!

Keep up the quitting everyone and well done:D
