The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

I am sitting here on a Saturday night when I would have normally smoked at least 10 roll ups. I would normally be thinking bed so I will go for a fag before I go up. I would have gone out and came in after 2 mins smelling of smoke,coughing my guts up,getting romantic with my OH with the stench of stale smoke on my lips.

No brainer really but It is hard because I ,and many others on here, have done it and we know what you are all going through.

I wish you all the best and will go to bed with not a whiff of fag breath

Not sure that I really should post this- it could have us all lighting up again!

MFD- I know what you mean, yes we are giving up something. I used to think that I was dumping an old friend. Now I think that is right but this old friend is a bad influence. Sometimes no matter how I try and feel about this bad influence I still miss it!

You have done brilliantly by not smoking and i am on your side believe it or not. I used to hate posts like mine when i was giving up. I used to think" you self rightuous !!!!!! who are you to tell me that it is a piece of peace to stop. You will feel like me one day and you will annoy someone else who is trying to stop. All I am trying to convey to you all is that no matter how long you have smoked (27 years) there is a way out and it is not as bad as you think.

Well done Carole! You sound so very determined, though come to think of it ALL of you do....and with luck and perseverance it looks as though we'll have a good few permanent non-smokers here very soon. What an achievement that will be too! You're going brilliantly MFD, what a time behind you already and you sound so positive with everything you write! Belnahua, Taxi and LMTP, (doltage ? too I hope!) all still set to achieve your goals too. Not forgetting shineyhead who seems to be already there! To any of you who's names I haven't included, please forgive me as I just couldn't see any further back when writing...and the memory doesn't quite keep up these days, too many fags way back no doubt!

This really is an exiting place to be to see how wonderfully you're all coming along. It's quite like being at the finishing line and praising everyone as they all come through, some early, some not - BUT - each getting there in their own time!:T

Keep that resolve everyone and keep strong! All the very best one and each.
