It's time for me to be completely honest, I've been hanging around this thread since it started, declaring my desperation to give up and how sick I am of this habit. Yet still I reach for the little golden rectangular box everday, full of guilt and not enjoying one single puff.

I reached a milestone birthday last week, a year ago my goal was to stop before I reached that birthday, and still I haven't. I've been at this stupid habit for 23 and a half years, how pathetic is that ? The times I stopped only amount to a year in total.

However, last night something happened, gonna sound silly. I was aware whilst waiting for dinner to finish cooking, how tense I felt. I wanted a puff, but didn't. I really wanted my dinner, but because I had a few minutes to spare I thought I'd fill it with smoking. But I really didn't want to smoke. I was edgy, felt wrong and uncomfortable that this was such a need.

I didn't light up. But I'm back on the trail again. I hate feeling like this. I can spout Allen Carr all day and I know it's all true.
I want do something wonderful for myself and stop, last time I named a day I didn't take it serously enough, was kidding myself I would just do it. I will smoke my last cigarette today and mean it.

    Thanks for listening.

Thanks Carole, going cold turkey. The patches don't work well psoriasis which I have under control. And I'm totally convinced this is all a big mind trick, Neil Casey didn't work for me, but AC did the first time and it was heavenly state, albeit temprary and came to a quick halt after a few beers in the garden one evening.
Stocking up on almonds and goji berrys (I don't care if it's all hype I love them !)

    Onward and upward.

Hi aging biker, not ventured into the champix arena yet - mailnly because getting an appointment at our brand spanking new medical surgery is like checking in at the new terminal 5.., think I would probably give up waiting for my name to be called...now there's a thought.
Something I may consider though, thanx.

Snow was falling at 6am, didn't settle, quite pleased though as we have the last junior footy match of the season today, and don't want to be standing in the white stuff ! Sun is shining now.
Going to be a good day .

    Yuck no!

Jo, so glad to see you back here, you have ventured in so many times that you obviously have a problem with your smoking habit. I would definately get yourself down the pharmacist today and see if they do a smoking cessation thing. I think, for me anyway, it's kinda like a WeightWatchers weighing in thing once a week, they check your carbon monoxide levels and stuff and you can see that you are getting healthier which gives you a boost. Plus if you cave in you will feel far more let down and embarrassed to trot along to the appointment so there's more chance of not lighting up....IMHO anyways :D

You know there's always someone here to talk to :)
