Oh no, I had a disaster today.
I've given up now for 3 months! Cold turkey too!
Then cleaning out the car, I found a whole unopened pack in the glovebox.
Quick as I could, tossed the lot in a puddle and chucked them in the bin.
Close call that one!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -

Well done you :T:T:T. Look nice in a new shiny packet. Not so nice burning your lungs/clothes and making you stink. An ashtray is an awful sight and smell also. God I sound like a reformed smoker :rotfl:. Oh I am :T:T:T

Might have been a close one but you handled it extremely well- very well done.
Not really a disaster was it, more just a minor diversion.0 -

That was a night bit of entertainment some very funny stories...cheered me up no end..Thanks..I'm not feeling too bad shineyhead thanks.
I have tried everything before and the worst thing is that nasal spray..I had one sniff of it and couldn't stop coughing and broke a rib....it was very painful.
I didn't try champix as I have a lot of allergies to drugs and also couldn't risk it due to driving for a living so for me it was either patches or cold turkey and I didn't think I'd manage the latter so patches it is!!!...don't know whether the patches are making me feel ill or it's the withdrawal symptoms.0 -

How many did you used to smoke a day? Saving 30 quid after a week sounds a bit low.0

Giving up smoking is probably one of the hardest things to do. The stopping bit is relatively easy, it's living with it for the first x number of weeks that is the hardest.
My wife had been on about it for years, but I hate being told what to do, so I waited patiently for the right time. I did it more for my kids than my pocket, I was smoking backy (amounst other things), and at a fiver a pounch a week plus a couple of quid for papers etc, it wasn't as if it was costing me an arm and a leg.
Anyway, I first gave up in July last year when the new anti smoking thing kicked in. I was using patches and managed up to September until temptation (and nothing to read at work) got the better of me.
I think I stopped using the patches too early - 2 weeks of strong, 1 week each of medium and low. I was smoking for over 20 years prior to that.
Anyways, I decided that on the 1st Jan this year I would try again, stocked up on a few weeks worth of patches and went for it. After a month and almost out of patches, I contacted my doctor who signed me up to the Champix plan.
It's been great, none of the hassle with patches, just one small pill twice daily and thats it. Obviously you need will power, but the whole program makes it easy to help cope with withdrawals and cravings etc. Now that we are a quarter of the way through '08, I'm still not smoking
I have had the odd crafty one now and again, but certainly not for the last couple of weeks.
The only trouble I've had really is weight gain, back last year when I gave up, I put on 3 stones
I did manage to loose a lot of that, and this time I haven't really put any one, but I'm still 2 stone heavier than I was!
But anyways, I'm waffling
A very big WELL DONE to everyone that has managed to get off the cancer sticks!0
