Champix, they're great. Going back to the stop smoking clinic at 3pm for the first time since I quit, can't wait to see the reading on the CO thingy. It was 23 last time.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

    Hi all

I am on my 6th week

I used champix and it has been EXCELLENT i have not been tempted at all , well maybe once or twice , see my other posts lol but really it does take away the need amazingly (for me anyhow)

Be warned though after each tablet (2 a day) you do feel a little sick and washing machine stomach !

    morning all
you know when you first quit and cant stop thinking about cigs, well ime starting my second month and i reckon i think about it about 10 times aday,is there somebody whos been quit a bit longer who can tell me do you think about it less and less as time goes on. does thin make sense thanks ab

I am at 12 weeks (tomorrow) and I still think about them when I have a drink - in fact I always say, OMG I could really kill for a cig with this to make it complete, it's just not the same without. Most of the time I don't really miss them or think about them, but when it is time for drinkies then I REALLY do.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

TBH the whole drinking and smoking thing hasn't bothered me. I've not smoked for a week and been out drinking twice. The only thing I have noticed I'm rushing into the pubs to get past all the smelly smoke! Also it's cold so that's put me off going outside for a smoke.

    Hi everyone,

It sounds as though there are some really great success stories in the making here, including ninapne7, melbury, Steve, skintbutsmiling01 and a recent quitter, but doing very well so far....viktory and hubby too!Don't worry about the cough viktory, that's the little hairs in the bronchial parts growing back (smoking kills them off), but that will soon pass and all the coughing will be gone! You may also find hubby more willing to talk about it as he gets further away from the newness of it all. I couldn't even bear to say the word ciggie for ages!!! Mad, but!
You are all doing marvellously and should really be so very proud of yourselves.

Melbury: Your thoughts are so natural, but by putting yourself 'in the line of fire' (so to speak) you should be able to quit quite well and stay that way. I think it's far harder for all those (who are used to going to pubs) who won't go anywhere like a pub for fear of giving way and having a ciggie. To my mind, that way you do so well, but are then fearful of failing at the sight of a pub. One good thing about pubs these days is, as ninapne7 says, smoking is now taken outside so you're not directly with it. Enjoy the drink and let those happy to smoke go outside in the cold to do so. It WILL get much better soon.

Congratulations everyone! Have a wonderful Easter and all the very best with keeping your resolve!

    Many hugs, Sue.

  • Hi All,

    Mark back again.

Haven't posted for a few days as I have been away. Will be starting week 8 smoke free tomorrow morning. :j

I still have crisis moments but find that I am able to deal with them easier as time goes by. Keep going all, it was so good to see so many of you still on here posting.

Managed to go out with Hannah still smoking and not give in.

You can do it if you have the will power (and hugs on here!)

    Best of luck and congrats

    Mark
Nearly there! Been struggling for 7 years but the results are showing. :j
