Where did you meet the ailsa on hol? You never know might have been me lol!!
Hiya Ailsa,
It's tough isn't it? You could go on for years and still not be ready to quit. I don't think you ever can be ready TBH.
I have quit for periods of time before but I have always lapsed (keeping a few cigs in a cupboard or drawer 'just in case' so actually smoking 1 a week - we've all done it!) There is a massive difference between that and this time which is going to be my last time quitting.
That panic doesn't really go away if you think long term. Just keep thinking I am not going to smoke today (or this hour, or this week or whatever works for you).

If you were the same ailsa, all I would need to say was 'the blue' and you'd know where it wasNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

not me then!!! Wouldn't that have been a small world moment!!
I'm currently blaming my best friend for smoking and moving back up home so I saw her all wkend! I know it's not really her fault but I kept thinking well I#ll be with her and she'll be smoking! problem is she'll be around all the time now so can't use that as an excuse any more lol! Does the Allen Carr book tell you how to apologise after you have been a complete cow to your poor unsuspecting hubby? He's not talking to me, I have been a monster all weekend so I can't blame him.
Part of me thinks I am deliberately picking fights so I have a reason to smoke (and then blame him for making me slip up). I haven't smoked but I haven't done my marriage a whole heap of good either, jesus I didn't know I had so much evil in me.
Hiya Adzha - shame about the working all weekend, how's it going?please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

No... but it does make you see that you don't need to suffer through quitting cos you don't quit (as that conjures up deprivation of something enjoyable) you simply become a non smoker! It did work for me before I only started again cos I was bored at work and missed that social side of going out and chatting with everyone! It goes into all the stuff like you don't wake up in the night screaming cos you haven't smoked for 9 hrs etc... It made sense to me but I'm struggling with being in the right frame of mind at min!!! Going to keep plodding along with the book and keep tryingTotal Debt March 2008 - £9232.19  Virgin loans £5188.80, Halifax OD £2,456.94, Barclaycard £699.60, Virgin Credit card £532.25, Capitalone £354.60 (no idea as they refuse to send me statements now! updating figures as I get them!) im into day 3 of my first attempt at giving up the fags. ive smoked 20 a day for 10 years.
early hours of saturday morning i woke up coughing so badly i pulled a muscle in my back, and without sounding grim ive been coughing up little "plugs" of phlegm and my general health has been better.
so i decided enough is enough, i feel terrible right now though, banging headache and the shakes ,oh said i shouldnt go cold turkey .
my cheeks hurt because ive chewed so much wrigleys gum and im still coughing like a trouper, only its becoming more productive (sorry for the graphics), id feel better if i could stop the shakes and the coughingBring back mark and lard NOW! or else (please) clique member no. 10 :j

Still - day 3 is an acheivement :T well done you. Maybe look into NRT if you are really struggling (helped me) or keep braving it if you can. Just don't use it as an excuse to go back to the fags
