Hi everyone!
It looks to be some very promising quitters who are doing well, others thinking about which is great! Basilcat, it is hard, but once you're into it, you'll be surprised just how easy it becomes - and how determined you become!
Great going MFD, 2boysmum and webitha also!!!!!
For anyone worrying about weight gain, don't worry too much about it until you've quit smoking. Then when the weather's better and we get the longer nights, do as much exercise as possible, indoors or out. That will take away all the cravings for the sweet stuff as well and so long as you do enough exercise you can treat yourself to an occasional little treat. Meanwhile, drink plenty of water and chew on ready prepared carrots. Apples or any other fruit are a great help too. Concentrate on other mind-stretching activities toosuch as Crosswords, sewing, diy for our gents; anything you can think of, you'll soon find you don't crave half as much.

Morning all, I was pointed in this direction by My Fathers Daughter :hello:
OK, my name is viktory and I am a non smoker. A very recent non smoker though! I had my last cigarette on Saturday 15 March 2008 at 8.15pm. My husband had his last cigarette about 15 minutes later. We have both used Allen Carr's books to stop smoking (we have not quit smoking as quitting implies deprivation).
I am now on Day 4 and it is definitely getting easier. My sense of taste is starting to slowly return and my breathing is a lot easier, although I have developed a really irritating cough this morning. I am still thinking about cigarettes a lot though and those psychological triggers are a killer! It's not helped by the fact that my husband doesn't want to talk about - so you lot are going to be my support group!
Well done to everyone that is releasing themselves from their prison - keep up the good work and if I can help in any way.......0 -
Morning vik, glad you decided to join us
Morning everyone!!!
I haven't read Allen Carrs book, keep meaning to buy it but haven't got around to it. I suppose it must be worth a read if it makes people so determined - especially if you can do it without the crutches that patches etc give us.
I am just starting day 4 too and I am hitting the really grumpy about it stage  Sat at work scoffing pumpkin seeds just waiting for someone to dare to cross me (was that both barrels you wanted sir??? )please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I have stopped nicotine for 1 month, 22 days, 13 hours, 9 minutes and 7 seconds (51 days).
I've not smoked 619 death sticks, and saved £142.57.
I've saved 2 days, 3 hours and 32 minutes of my life.
Imagine smoking 619 cigs now!!! That is based on 12 a day for 15 yrs.
Have a great day everyoneCompulsive Spendaholic #150 -

Don't worry about using anything as a crutch, if it makes it easier it really doesnt matter. Get through today and I promise you'll feel like a superhero tomorrow :TCompulsive Spendaholic #150 -
Hi,
What a great motivational thread. I've not smoked for a week now, with the help of some tablets on Prescription.
I've saved £61.50 so far with cutting down to 10 a day in my first week then completely quitting in my second week.
I never realised how bad the smell was! I feel so much better now plus I'm not wasting all my cash on a ugly habit.
Nina
