I kept them, I smoked themI am horribly embarrassed and you're right, I probably didn't want to quit. But I do now and I am determined to make it stick. I have the added incentive of beginning to think about planning a family - DH says if I can quit for good we will start to make plans!!!
Thank you for the prayer - it means a lot.
btw - well done on your first month :T keep it up. Are you off the champix now? I am interested in your question about how long it takes you to stop thinking about it too - the thought of obsessing like this forever is not apealing.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

you know when you first quit and cant stop thinking about cigs, well ime starting my second month and i reckon i think about it about 10 times aday,is there somebody whos been quit a bit longer who can tell me do you think about it less and less as time goes on. does thin make sense thanks ab
Ive stopped 2 years now and it takes time for the feeling to go away. After 6 months I would " forget to smoke" which was brilliant. After a year I disliked ciggies and now 2 years on Im one of those people who detest smoke. I suppose the time scale involved is a personal thing .
I stopped by reading a book called Allen Carrs Easyway to stop smoking. Its good in that it ( in theory) it removes the desire to smoke so "giving up" is not a battle.
Much easier to stay stopped nowadays ( I failed twice before) due to the smoking ban , keep at it , read the book ( tescos sell it for about a fiver ) , Its worth it.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -
yes off the champix for over a week i halved the dose then stopped them and felt no different they are brill for getting you off the cigs and the first couple off weeks but they gave me a really dry mouth like you get after a heavy night out the stop smoking woman wasnt impressed but shes never smoked so hasnt got a clue (imo)most of these people seem to have never smoked
i think that half the battle, the fear of allways thinking about cigs, but it has to get better
you must be a lot younger than me ir youre just thinking about starting a family (mine are all grown up)wish ide stopped sooner 48 and 33 years of 30 a day ive had my fair share havent i

You are lovely. I have another 6 weeks of the champix left, I am getting sick of remembering to take them tbh. I get in bed and have to get up again to take one! Plus the morning one still makes me feel a bit sick if I havent eaten!
Well everyone I had my first big night out on Sat as a non smoker and I hardly thought about smoking at all! It was raining and I felt nothing but pity for those getting soaked & having a ciggy, and the wet cig smell on people is not nice. How I would have felt if I was out with smokers I dont know, but I am very pleased with myself!:TCompulsive Spendaholic #150 -

Evening All,
Hope everyone is still pushing forward. Congrats MFD for coming back and having another try; stick with us, you can do it. Thanks Mark for your kind thoughts. Hope to see some posts from people who have dropped off, if you have succumbed again tell us about it. You can take a break from quitting then have another go and, I hope, we will still be here to help.
Best wishes to all who are trying to improve their lives
MarkNearly there! Been struggling for 7 years but the results are showing. :j0 -

Hi MFD, good to see you back again! Never mind that you couldn't quite make it, but now you're back in the circle again and really sound determined to quit. I have to admit that it was always more difficult for me too when I was alone; far easier when someone's there for company and to encourage you along. Still, now I think you're right with it making the world of difference to have someone to report to and I really hope that spurs you on.
