  • Hi all
my fears for today ...... what if .....I stop for days and days and weeks and weeks and years and years and .......... then start again ..... what a stupid thought is that but its in my head now ..... Mr Nick O'Teen is trying to convince me there is no point stopping cause I'll only start again sometime in the future - so why suffer this now!!!!
don't worry I'm still in control but when stuff like that pops in your head its hard to ignore even though any rational sane person knows its rubbish - perhaps I'm just not rational or sane - lol!! (Is any smoker??)
Well after that complete and utter drivel I'll go and get on with some work.
    Take care all.

    Hi all,
went for hypnotherapy last night. It hasn't worked because i'm craving like mad. i haven't had one since 6.30 last night before the hypnotherapy.
I keep telling myself that i'm going to the shop to get cigarettes but i haven't gone so far.
managed to actually walk past the shop this morning and not go in for a packet.
I'm basically going cold turkey now because i dont think the hypnotherapy has worked! What a waste of 65 quid!

  • Hi fannyannie never worked for me either - I think I expected a magic spell and the desire to smoke simply to disappear but it didn't!!! I think you have to be in a certain frame of mind for it to work, cause it did for my friend but I just felt nothing!! Having said that you've gone 15 hours without a cigarette how cool is that??? Sign up for silkquit and it tells you how much you've saved etc I find it a real motivator - there is a link on page 1 of this forum (I can't do the links). Deep breathing works for me too, I think of every craving either like a wave that I'm surfing or a contraction and just breathe through it - the worst ones are the ones that creep up when you least expect them!! Anyway sorry I'm on my soap box being all evangelical will stop now!!

2nd worry for the day .... my trousers which were loose(ish) last week are now snug (ish) had hoped I wouldn't put on any weight - looks like I am already!!! Still won't let that stop me!

Love luck and hugs to all

I'm really tempted to go to the shop and buy fags! but then theres a part of me that says no its ok i dont need to smoke. so maybe it is working a bit.
I am still craving though and keep thinking maybe i would be better to have one and go to the doctors asap and get patches? i think my kids would rather i done that!
I was on 25-30 a day so for me not to have any at all since last night is brilliant!

  • Oh fannyannie you're doing so well, avoid the shop for as long as possible - just play it one hour at a time! You could always go and buy some gum (I've heard good things about it) while you wait for your gp appointment. Smoking 25 - 30 a day you've already save £2.50 approx!!! Take care.

    According to my counter...

***Two days, 12 hours, 6 minutes and 59 seconds. 37 cigarettes not smoked, saving £8.32. Life saved: 3 hours, 5 minutes.***

The Nicotinell gums are still helping to take the edge off the physical withdrawal symptoms. I'm finding that, even more than the physical withdrawal symptoms, the dificult thing to handle is the constant thoughts about cigarettes which is affecting my ability to concentrate at work. I am also finding that breathing exercises on a regular bis is also quite helpful.

Some benefits i have noticed so far: much more clear-headed in the morning; lung capacity is improving ( i can actually take a proper deep breath without feeling pain/cramp in the lungs); my taste buds and sense of smell have definitely improved (i had a curry last night and it smelled and tasted much better than usual).

Keep it up everyone and good luck!

This is definately my worse time of day and this is when I'm grateful I don't live too near a shop!!! Really hope I can keep fighting this, just so don't want to lose now! Hope all okay with all the fellow quitters.
