  • Jo you can do it you know you can - you're the founder of our thread and my inspiration - we are all behind you 110%!!! Its only a blip, you're still a quitter - Mr Nick O'Teen is sneaky but you can defeat him!!

Hi Dipsy I'm going cold turkey but used patches in the past and they itched and I also had bad/weird dreams. Good luck!

Stay strong one and all - and remember never give up giving up!!

    Hi IDA,

I'm OK, feeling a bit gutted to have spoiled it, I'd been given up since 15th May :( But onwards and upwards, I'm gonna stock up with patches on the way home tonight, haven't been able to smoke today cos the boss has been working me and I don't smoke indoors anyway cos I've got 3 kids and it'll probably be raining :rotfl:

So see you here tomorrow with me patch on and ready to start again!!

    Thanks for the message :)

  • Just a ramble to myself, picture the scene a person sitting at a computer working away ...... on one shoulder sits a smiley, happy devil puffing away on a cigarette and blowing the smoke into the persons face gleefully, on the other shoulder sits a serious, sincere angel shaking its head! You all know whats going on here and boy do I fancy joining the devil - he always seems to have so much fun and life seems so much easier with him. However life in the long run is better with the angel, cleaner, cheaper and in time just as much fun ...... just trying to convince myself. Helped me ride another wave anyway!!
Take care, love and luck to all

Jo, don't get too down about "caving in" We've probably all been there at some time or other, if not on this quit, then on a previous one.;)

Dipsy, I'm using patches too an they do itch for maybe 20 mins or so about 10 mins after putting them on. I started them last Thursday and I did have a couple of very vivid dreams on Fri and Sat (which I was warned about) but nothing since. Maybe they settle down after a while too. It's hard to tell with me tho' 'cos I'm always shouting out, clapping my hands in the air, singing (please!!!!) when I'm asleep. OH says it's like being in an assylum (don't know how he knows that) in our house at night because 1st DD snores like thunder, 3rd DD giggles, sings and shouts at 2nd DD and then there's me....poor man.
This is day 4, 81 ciggies not smoked and £18.03 saved as well as 6hrs 45mins of my life but it's been really hard today. I woke up in a really bad mood for some reason and it didn't get any better at work (I'm a Teaching Asst Yr 4's) however, I feel a bit better this afternoon so I'm keeping on keeping on. I'm not really craving ciggies much, just in a bad mood.

Well done to everyone today. :T

Jo and Jet - DON'T be hard on yourself! I gave up a few times and started again. Why, this time, I was serious about it, I don't know...though I do think the smoking ban had a lot to do with it. But NEVER give up giving up.

    Hiya All :j

I am in the midst of quitting and have even managed to apply money saving to this too. My local GP is doing a clinic and I get a months supply of patches for the NHS prescription charge so its a lot cheaper than buying them myself.

There are times when I sneal an odd ciggie (bummed off someone else usually when having a drink) but mostly I'm doing okay and most days manage to stay off them.

My only advice is don't beat yourself up for one ciggie just keep trying and I'll be with you

    Cheer and good luck

Your house sounds like mine :-)

Well day one almost over and I have to say its not been that bad, considering I have been dead bored as work quiet and no one else here..... but 1 day at a time :-) I have given up for 6 months before.... this time I haven't told anyone so that if I fail or have the odd one with a glass of wine I won't feel like a leper!!!! Good luck to everyone :-)

Hi Barking, I was just posting on your other thread! Do you come from Barking? Well done on giving up the ciggies.

Dipsy, well done, you are doing great! Hopefully I'll be able to say the same thing to myself this time tomorrow!!
