Well done to you all!
I don't smoke at home, most of the time I don't even want one. If I had absolutely no social life I'd be grand, as soon as I have a drink I turn into Waynetta Slob and start mugging friends who smoke and going 'Give me ay fayg!' But I've not had one since May 18th. Maybe the smoking ban will help me beat it. I have two friends who had smoked as long as me if not longer, they both gave up last year and can sit in the pub and it doesn't remotely bother them. I'm soooooo envious!

This is really hard isn't it, but at least we're doing it and it's gotta get better at some point surely? Our bodies must get used to not smoking, guess it just takes time. So I'm definately in the same camp as you
Well can't believe it I'm at almost 2 weeks :j :j ! Never thought I'd get to this - now I have to maintain my quit .... must do this can't give in now. My mantra is "I'm just one fag away from being a smoker again!!" so none for me and know its just going to get better and easier.
Well done to us all!!! Welcome to anyone considering quitting ... join us - you've nothing to loose!
love and hugs

Right where are you all???? Even those who've had a puff don't be too ashamed/embarrased (been there wore the tshirt) to call in, keep trying thats what we're here for!! Or is it just me still so (sadly) obsessed with Mr O'Teen that I haven't yet moved on ... lol! I'm feeling good today and the urges are weakening, can't quite believe I'm here but delighted I am. If I can do it anyone can!
Love luck and hugs

I've spent much of last week worrying about how on earth I was going to survive the weekend. At work there is always something that can take your mind off it, plus the thought of having to get in my car and drive if I want one - having first scabbed one from a 'willing' source, fair put me off!!
I was also accused of being perverted when sniffing a colleague who had been outside and indulged - she was walking down the longest corridor in the building and I went right out of my way to follow her - sniffing!! LOL
I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!!!!!
Baking!! I have cupboards full of stuff - not all edible, I'm not very good really, but it kept me busy and the kids 'helped' so I wasn't dragged into refereeing their latest scrap!
Thanks to the old style board I have muffins and oat biscuits galore!!
Now I've just got to find someone to help us eat it - all of you would be more than welcome if prune and carrot muffins are your bag!!
Keep going all - you have been a fantastic source of support. Thanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!:T THANK YOU:T0 -
Looks like it's game over for me. My 10 year old told me last night in a very mature fashion that he thinks it's just silly that I'm still smoking, especially as he knows I can stop. He told me I should just throw the money I spend on cigarettes away because I'm just burning it.
He wrote a 'contract' declaring that he had seen me smoking my last cigarette at 7.45pm last night, any more smoking and would get an instant fine of up £1.00.
Very proud of him, and won't let him down.
My underlying thoughts are how selfish this habit is.

Hi all
I have been lurking on this site for a wee while trying to pluck up the courage to stop again. I stopped at the beginning of feb but gave in when i was out at a party. Iv been reading everyones posts and think your all doing really well:T
Iv bought my patches and stopped today at 8.20am so i'm looking forward to nicer skin and teeth and saving lots of money! I know it will be difficult at times but i also know its possible so fingers crossed this time i can crack it.
(not sure how to put this in my sig!)
39 minutes and 0 seconds. 0 cigarettes not smoked, saving £0.14. Life saved: 0 minutes.:j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j0 -

(click on "User CP" up there ^^ at the top, then "edit signature" to put your silkquit stats in)
Jo - like the contract idea :T:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Welcome Jo and Kirsty - glad and happy to have you aboard!!! Love the idea of a contract Jo - our children certainly show more wisdom than us!!! Kirsty someone posted a link on here that shows how clear and clean we can expect out teeth and skin to become I will try to find it and add it again, here it is http://quitbecause.org.uk/tellus.htm, look at the why quit page its a revelation!. Tilly love your baking idea, cooking is not my forte but eating certainly is - as my once "loosish" now "snuggish" trousers will verify - once I've got used to the quit smoking thingy will have to join a loose weight forum - lol!!!
Please humour me a moment whilst I SHOUT very loudly"I'VE REACHED 2 WEEKS!!!"I really can't quite believe it and keep reminding myself, but also reminding myself I'm only 1 cigarette away from smoking again, it really is all or nothing for me and I'm determined not to smoke that 1!!!It is really down to you lot and this thread that I've got here, having this to focus on and my sig to update (sometimes 5 times + a day!) has really helped. I will never be able to thank you enough - Martin Lewis has changed my life in so many ways - he really is a hero!THANK YOU ALL - MY VIRTUAL FAMILY RULE OK!!!!love and hugs
