Hi IDA and all,
I wholeheartedly agree with the 'rants' on the civil liberties and smoking rooms issue. I am tired of being the easy target of 'snitty' government legislation!!
But everyone is doing great and we have the added advantage of feeling smug - yes we've given up, but we're paying fewer tasxes. HAH! Although just how smug I'm going to be when they've had to put up VAT to cope with the amount of money they're now not getting in, I'm not so sure.
Keep on fighting the fight all - my next big target is to go a whole day without being unreasonable to some poor soul who has crossed my path at just the wrong moment!! I've started to wear the patches in very obvious places so I just have to point and look apologetic - do you think they would do them in flourescent colours with 'SORRY' printed on them - save me an awful lot of time. If I had them, people would just know to leave me alone!
Thank you all once again for your amazing support.
Take care,
TillyThanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!:T THANK YOU:T0 -
Hiya all, the no smoking group is growing how lovely all the more support to give and receive.
I have not smoked for two whole weeks and I am feeling so much better. I live in South Devon about half an hour away from Dartmoor, today we, 'im indoors our dog and I went for a lovely long hike. We climbed a tor [hill] and had a 360 degree view for miles we looked down at the church at Widecombe there was blue sky and clouds and very fresh air. It was heaven. We then went for a cream tea to finish off our day. We should have done the cream tea then the walk.
Well done to everyone that has stopped smoking.
IDA "they" had a go at dog owners for not picking up after their dogs then smokers I bet the next target will be obese people. Why can't they just let us get on in life our own way.
Take care all,

Interesting about the psorasis Kirsty, I suffer badly too, hands, elbows, knees and feet and since quitting my knees are almost clear and the rest is definately less "angry".

Also suffer from psoriasis, tried everything going, only one cream worked psorigon, cleared up in a week, unfortunately it was loaded with steroids  and taken off the market. Convinced mine is stress related which goes along with debt and smoking, like a a continuous chain really.

I tried a steroid cream (cant remember the name but it came in different strengths with different coloured tubes) and it worked after a few months but the best thing iv found is going abroad the combination of sun and sea water did the trick for me. Im planning my first holiday abroad for 5 years in september so fingers crossed it'll be gone.
Im feeling good today - i know i can beat this and im really pleased iv joined the group as it will keep me focused. Hope everyone has a lovely smokefree day:j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j0 -

My 76yo dad stopped smoking last week. He has to go to the stop smoking clinic at the hospital and he's got some kind of pills. He puts them under his tongue everytime he fancies having a fag. I think you can take up to 40 a day. He was a 20 a day smoker for over 60 years and he managed on 13 pills over 2 days. He's always bothered with his breathing, fluid on his lungs, etc.
He went into hospital yesterday for a nose op, and they checked his oxygen levels, and they're at 97%! Which is excellent. He often goes to the hospital to be put on the nebuliser, and he's never had his oxygen levels at anything like that.
Well done to everyone who's stopped smoking.0 -
Jackie - thats brill news - what a boost for your dad. Its amazing the difference when you stop:j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j0

Right - back on the non-smoking wagon! I have only had one since sat (and that was one sneaky on on sunday night that made me feel guilty!) but the habit is still there. I know the cravings are meant to go quickly, but it doesn't feel like it at all! I have the added incentive of just finding out I'm pregnant (huge surprise - would have stopped before if planning it!!) and that's it now, I just can't smoke so can't give in. Bloody hard though all the same!!
