The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

My 76yo dad stopped smoking last week. He has to go to the stop smoking clinic at the hospital and he's got some kind of pills. He puts them under his tongue everytime he fancies having a fag. I think you can take up to 40 a day. He was a 20 a day smoker for over 60 years and he managed on 13 pills over 2 days. He's always bothered with his breathing, fluid on his lungs, etc.

He went into hospital yesterday for a nose op, and they checked his oxygen levels, and they're at 97%! Which is excellent. He often goes to the hospital to be put on the nebuliser, and he's never had his oxygen levels at anything like that. :D

Well done to everyone who's stopped smoking.

That is AMAZING, Jackie! :T

Kirsty - try www.ticker.com - might have something on there to help you with your sig. :)

Everyone else - keep up the good work and have a lovely smoke free day.

    Hi everyone,
Cant quite believe i've made it a week without smoking now on willpower alone! I have shocked myself, i never thought that i would do it in million years! I've even sat in my best friends living room while she smoked in front of me on saturday. She was trying her best not 2 bless her but she does love a smoke while were gossiping lol!

Its a friends birthday a week saturday and were going to the races for the day and then out clubbing so i'm dreading that because i'm worried i'll get drunk and have a few cigs which wouldn't be so bad but i dont want to wake up the next morning and have to start all over again!

I'm putting weight on aswell

If you worry too much you won't enjoy your day/evening out. Just enjoy yourself and keep reminding yourself of how chuffed you feel right now. Hold that thought and think of it when your out
I'm putting weight on aswell

Purely temporary - it will pass (I'm still waiting for it to pass, mind :D).

  • Well done fannieannie thats ace - good feeling isn't it!
Yep have to say the weight is creeping on me too - my clothes that were becoming loosish are now becoming snuggish -lol!!! Can't say as I'm eating that much more (?) but I read somewhere that nicotine does increase metabolism so mine must be slowing down to a snails pace. Mind with the money I save I can always buy some new marques .... I mean clothes!!! Still I refuse to use that as an excuse to start again, but omg between 4 and 6 I'm at my worst and could so murder a fag now!!

  • Evening all,
What an amazing day for everyone - huge congratulations Sea - how fabulous - you will keep us all up to date with events - feeling a little broody too but working hard on remembering the 3 am sessions!!! It would be great to be virtual aunts and uncles though - if that would be ok with you of course.:j

To my shame I smoked through my two pregnancies - despite warnings of giving birth to underwieght babies - tell that to the 9 and 10 pound monsters who fought their way out!!!

Keep going everyone - we're doing brilliantly and have even more reason to keep it up now - we have to set a good virtual example to Baby Sea - or is that Little Puddle?;)

Been a stressful one for me and I'm acquiring quite an unsavoury reputation for sniffing smokers who have 'been outside for one' - I'm going to end up in the local press, I can feel it in my bones.:rotfl:

Take care and keep on feeling good about us!!

Thanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!
    :T THANK YOU:T
  • There is something wrong with my bathroom scales, they are measuring an extra four pounds. How can that happen?
It can't be the large bowl of ice cream with a whole packet of wafers - the strawberries with clotted cream - the chocolate flake every day - the cream tea. Can it? I do lots of walking and muscle weighs more than fat so that must be the answer. Even though I have done lots of walking for a long time over the last two weeks it has suddenly caught up with me.
My daughter is getting married early Sept would she rather have a fat mum or a smoking mum. No contest.
    Take care all,

I would love to be nymph-like particularly as I never have been!!!
ILA my scales are faulty too, how did that happen!

Do you know I've been thinking about how I've managed to get this far, you know, whats different this time ... and the answer is this forum. Having this to visit and post on whenever I feel like it has made all the difference and also the humour - all of us trying to find the funny side to quitting really does help. So there you are then a pat on the back to all my fellow quitters we deserve it!!!

Thanks for helping me through the fog and look forward to a long, clean, healthy, wealthy association!!!
