Have a look at post #1 - lots of useful links and stuff. Get the silkquit quitmeter, to tell yourself how well you're doing, and come back here if you weaken. We are ALL in the same boat and someone is bound to say the right thing (eventually :o)

And a big Well Done so far :T :T :T

My name is suki and Im a non smoker :j:j:j

After 32 years of a 20 a day habit I smoked my last Sunday night and am still alive, haven't killed anyone and actually feel quite happy after my first 24 hours smoke free.

I have tried before, done three months cold turkey a few years back and found it hell for all that time. The three day period talked about never seemed to stop for me:confused: I was still waking in the night crying for a smoke weeks down the line. So when I failed it took a long long time to try again, that time with patches. I didnt last a week on those, once again the physical symptoms of giving up were just too much to handle and the cravings were just as strong as if I had gone cold turkey.

This time Im on Champix and so far so good. Towards the end of last week I was all ready to give up, cigs started to taste disgusting and I really wasnt getting any pleasure at all. Woke yesterday with the GOOD thought that I wasnt going to be smoking and I got through the day pretty well. No Physical withdrawal pain, just a few cravings that came along where my "habit" smokes should have been - deep breathing and a glass of water before finding something else to do put paid to them :)

So looking forward to a smoke free day ahead instead which is a complete turn around on previous attempts, those times I dreaded even waking.

Good luck and strength to all of us :T

  • Hello newbies and regulars.
Hey SKintnow - you should be really proud of yourself, and welcome Suki amd Emsy.

Well done to Basilcat and all others who've done their 2 weeks.

Melbury - you are one strong person if you went through those 2 weeks ith baccy in the house!!

    My quit counter stats are:

"Free and Healing for Six Days, 3 Hours and 36 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 5 Hours, by avoiding the use of 62 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £17.84."

I must say that I'm starting to feel better by the day, I've got loads of energy and really positive feeling.

When I woke up this morning to the rain drumming on the roof of the boat it was lovely to think that I wouldn't have to go and stand outside at work today just to get a nicotine fix!!
