Hi Skintnow.... Welcome!
If you've started, well done.... If you are thinking about it... Jump in!!
On the (few) occassions I have packed in over the years, I've found certain times are like 'watersheds' getting past Day 3 / getting past Week 3 and then getting past Week 5. I've only got past Week 5 once before and that was last year.
Temptation came on holiday when I had been a non-smoker for about five months... A few puffs off a friend, then one full cig.... I then started to have just the odd one every now and again but that opened me up to temptation. I would buy a packet of twenty when going out with friends who smoked, have a few and leave them with the rest....
When my mother was terminally ill and hit the first (of many) crisis. I gave myself the excuse to buy and keep one packet.... The weeks (and crisis) went on and one packet became two, three, four...... The rest is history!
I am now up to day 13 (again)...The good news: It has been easier this time and I now really appreciate the changes... in my body, my home, my clothes, my purse! I hope I never do it again but take it day by day...
I have made one promise to myself that I will never give up giving up for as long as it takes... I will be smoke free!!!!:rotfl: Older and growing0 -
Likewise, Boatie  Tragic, isn't it? :rotfl:
Bas - "we need some newbies" :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm feeling pretty chipper myself actually, for no reason whatsoever....:D
Yep- bring on all the newbies- we'll set em all straight on the road to no nicotine !!:rotfl:MTC's NO MORE PIES MEMBER NO 202 !!!

Okay i'm in, seems like is the place to be for support and encouragement. I have decided to go for full on cold turkey, and ditch the patches... this way i can get the stuff out quicker from my body:D
I realise its going to be harder, but he who dares wins. Had my last one about 40 mins ago.

Well done skintnow. I'm dead proud of you. You CAN do it. Someone is usually around on this thread for moral support, too. You will find the enthusiasm of jo1972, Bas and JoeHel in particular (and the rest, of course) really helpful.
Keep us updated and just think - by Friday, you won't have ANY nicotine in your system:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
MJay - your story sounds strangely familiar!
As my mum says 'you should be really good at stopping smoking - you've had enough practice!':rotfl:
Skintnow - Way to go! You CAN do it0 -

That's exactly what happened to me last year but I had been stopped 6 months. I started again on holiday-strange how temptationj got the better of us after so long. That's why i said on here yesterday to fellow quitters, don't get complacent.
Coz that's is exactly how easy it is to fall off the wagon!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Boatie Ha! ha!
Indeed! My friend (now smoke free for three years) used to say the same thing.... She was dead good at it 'cos she did it so often...
She would give up her 20 a day to save to pay for a holiday then months later buy 200 cigs at the airport on the way out...!!
Mad, eh... particularly as the first few days are the dodgy ones!!
Skintnow, take heart... It is just a couple of days.... You've probably had headaches that lasted longer!! Go for it!!:rotfl: Older and growing0 -
Skintnow.
If you look at the links on the first page of this thread, there is one there for 'quit counter'.
I've found this really useful, and a great motivator when a craving hits, or when you're feeling down and wondering why you're bothering.0
