Can I join in too please?
I had my last cigarette on saturday lunchtime but am now working in japan for the week so its actually nearly 10pm here now on Tuesday evening. I make that 3 full days without smoking so far.
I did buy the gum to help but so far have not had any - I thought picking this week when I'm in a different environment would be easier than trying to break the habit at home and so far its going OK.

I fly back on Friday so I'm hoping for a full week off th fags by the tim eI get back.

    Fingers crossed

  • Hi Rachel,

    Welcome!
If you haven't had a cig since Saturday then I reckon you've already cracked it.
I also bought some nicotine lozenges but I haven't even opened the packet.
It just helped me to know that there was something in my handbag that could help me if it came to the crunch.

Is the MK for Milton Keynes? That's where I am!

    Hi everyone!

Welcome more newbies! Suki, I'm interested to hear how Champix works - it sounds good so far!

Rachelmk - welcome aboard! Can I just say one thing - if you have gone three full days without nicotine you have got through the worst bit and you are on the home straights chick ... if you can possibly help it PLEASE don't use the gum as you will only be putting nicotine back into your bloodstream once you've already got rid of it all!! Any cravings you have from now on will be psychological and I know they feel very real and take willpower to get through, but they are NOT real nicotine cravings. You have done brilliantly.. KEEP GOING!

I just came in to share a funny story. I was on the usual Stansted Express train in to work this morning when a tree came down onto the power lines and knocked out the power. Our 40 minute journey ended up taking 3 hours 10 minutes. After about an hour and a half I could have gone down that carriage and pointed out the smokers, no problem. As we were approaching Liverpool Street Station they already had their packs out into their nearest pocket, lighters at the ready... The train stopped and I saw one speed-walking down the platform. By the time I got through the ticket barrier he was already going up the stairs 2 at a time, LIGHTING UP AS HE WENT!!! He couldn't even wait the 20 yards to where it was actually "legal" to smoke - i.e. outside the station.... :rotfl: And I spent the whole journey sitting there, looking at the sheep grazing in the fields, listening to my music, totally chilled out and relaxed. I was sooooo happy not to be going through that panic any more!!!! :j

Hi boatie_bird! You are doing fantastically well too and same goes for you ... you're through the biggest hurdle of the first 72 hours and your body is now free of nicotine!!! Lozenges will only put it back in!!! You've done it on your own and you should be seriously proud of yourself!

Oh - and Basilcat - well done you on the payrise mate - great news! (add that to the tax-free payrise you've given yourself by quitting and see how much better off you are :D )
