Hi all,
New to this board, but saw this and wanted to post as I have just given up and have fallen in love with Allan Carr. I was a serious serious smoker, anything up to 80-100 a day on a really bad day, and halfway through reading his book, I just stopped. Never ever thought I would be able to quit (tried about a month ago and thought I was dying) and now - I don't want to or have any interest in it. So would recommend it loads and loads and loads (a friend recommended it to me as she knew I am in financial poo and how expensive smoking is and had just quit with the book. Looked it up on Amazon and was rather impressed with all the feedback, thought 'what have I got to loose - it's less than 40 fags and I can always take it back to the shop if it's pants (which I was convinced it was going to be)' but now I am eating my words.
Hopefully this is for the rest of my life, which will be much much longer now, and to be totally honest, had you said to me a month ago I was going to be able to quit or cut down at all I would have called you a liar.
Hang in there peeps, and read the book if you can beg/borrow/buy/steal a copy, it should be given out on the NHS!!
(PS I have no attachment to the book or author or publishers, honest, I just thought it is a really good book that has changed my life (ott I know but true).

Hi all
welcome pixiepie well done you! I'm an Allen Carr (God bless his soul) fan too and his book has been my inspiration - along with this site!!!
Well its day 5 - can't believe I've got here and in a perverse way wish I hadn't cause then I'd still be smoking - how sad is that!! I should be euphoric instead I'm (just a little) gloomy but still determined and also determined to remind myself that I'm not depriving myself of anything and how much I hated those cancer sticks!! Plus I love my pink tongue. Love, luck and hugs to all,
IDA

Good luck Jo - hold the faith. You know you can do it and perhaps you can inspire your smoking friends! Plus Sunday the ban comes in so if out in public you'll definately have "the power".
Love,luck and hugs

in 28 minutes I'll have not had a fag for 24hrs!! that's £4.45 saved and an hour and a half of my life saved. Having said all that, and pleased as I am, I have not stopped thinking about cigarettes ALL day. I feel a bit depressed even though it's payday. Is this normal?:(

Oh Ann I'm with you - really annoyed with myself cause want to/should be so happy about not smoking but all I keep thinking about are bl**** fags! We have to stay strong Ann and all we can do it!!

indebt - im hearing you! i am now on day 78. an believe me the first few weeks were all up and down and to and fro, it passes, your bound to have days when you feel extra anxious or sad or worse 'flat' exhausted from the fight and god knows what else... oh ill, i felt very peculiar the dizziness was the worst but i feel sound now!
its worth hanging in there, if only to see how you feel tomorrow, it changes everyday at the start! I have now saved about £400 not smoking and my quitometer tells me i have not smoked 1816 fags since i quit!
Jo - Im watching you!! dont you be smoking now you have done sooooo well so far! i am out drinking tomorro night i cant wait for 1st july i will feel a lot safer in the quit! i have halved my nasal spray this week and dont feel too bad for it
everyone else- keep it at and good luck!0 -
Hello all, I wonder if there will be any fights in pubs or non smoking buildings due to nicotine withdrawal? and what effects it will have in pubs - will their takings be down or maybe they could go bust. I live in a small seaside town and there is over 20 pubs here.
Have a great smoke free weekend.
Take care all,
ILAI live in a small drinking town with a fishing problem0
