I just had some FANTASTC news!!! My brother and sister-in-law are going on a mini-break to Prague in August. My brother has just called me to say that he has booked for me and my hubbie as well!!! He says he knows what a crappy time I have had over the last few years and that we deserve a break and he is paying!!!! All we need is some spends....hows that for an incentive to stop smoking!! £35 per week for 8 weeks...Loads of spending monay for 4 days!

I am crying here, I am so overcome...my family really are the best.

Thank you to absolutely everyone on this thread...I am so going to need all your support for this and if I can help anyone else I would love to.

Good luck to ALL of us....we CAN do it!!

That's GREAT news Kathy!!! Great incentive too. :j

Good luck over the weekend everyone. Stay strong but if you fall off the wagon, we're all still here to get you back on it. :)

  • Hello all, this is day 5 on Champix and seems to be going well. I am smoking fewer cigs, down to 9 today from 25. It just seems to be happening that I "need" less Was good to read Sparky's post as I don't know anyone else using this method. Did not know about the no weight gain though, that is good news. Between days 8 - 14 I should be able to just stop altogether.
I feel calm and have only had minor side effects on the first day apart from 2 nights of very strange deams.
Keep on quitting and take care all.

  • Hope everyone had a good smoke free weekend with no stress.
I think we should all be kind to ourselves whilst we are trying to give up smoking, our bodies are going through a huge change so if we feel like a little treat we should have it.
To this end I cracked open a brand new bar of Lush soap. Now I know the thermostat is going in the shower but it is not happening every time. So in I popped and lathered up and it was great, then this huge surge of ice cold water fell upon me followed by what felt like scalding water. It was a very stimulating shower. 'im indoors really really is going to do something about this now. To his credit he did not laugh. He bought strawberries because they look nice and you like them and double cream because it was on offer. He bought them before the shower episode too.
    Take care everyone,
    ILA

hi all, nearly a week off the dreaded weed for me. so far so good. i've had a few moments of pure rage(totally unlike me) i thought i was going to go mad. but they passed. the thing thats keeping me going is that if i have one ciggie it will cost me approx £10,000. keep up the good work.

    Hi Everyone

Wow its great to see you all doing so well. I have a REAL incentive now with the Prague trip...I need spending money!

Bad news is I have just been to the doctors and he cannot give me Zyban because I am on antidepressants...I'm gutted as I really wanted to try them. So its back to the patches for me.

I have got the Allen Carr book and have just been to the library to get The Nicotine Trick by Neil Casey as it is highly recommended on here but they don't stock it in my area.

Is there anyone who has finished there's who would be prepared to sell it to me. I really want this book...I need all the help I can get.

    Cheers
    Kathy

  • Lucky you Kathy what a lovely brother you have! Sorry haven't got that book am currently reading Allen Carr.
Its now 11 hours and 50 mins since my last cigarette (not that I'm counting lol ) and surprisingly tough. I never smoke at work so didn't think it would bother me here but I'm really crabby and can't stop thinking about fags which is so stupid and I'm cross with myself! Keep reminding myself I'm free from the weed and having one will simply lead to another one and then I will have just wasted my time and reinforced the subconscious control cigarettes have over me. OMG what a ramble!! I'm loosing it - but I won't smoke!!! Take care all.
