Hiya Costa! That is the exact reason why I couldn't cut down, I just had to stop. I know what I am like, if I just had the one, I would then have 2 the next time etc.....it is hard but its the best present you could give yourself and think of all that money saved. Keep going!! :T
Hey Jo - wish me luck off to Norwich tonight to see my mates, there are usually a lot of smokers that turn up at their place! :eek:A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Good luck Lou, just think how guilty you'll feel tomorrow if you given in. I love Norwich, would like to move out that way.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

Well, I am gutted today. My clinic has been cancelled and rearranged for Monday morning. There's nothing I can do about it so I am just going to smoke as little as possible over the weekend and have a new quit date of Monday.
I am going to ask for Zyban...hopefully they will give it to me. Has anyone else used it?0 -
Oops...you sound pretty scary now....I need a ciggie now0

Hi Kathy
If you are going to try Zyban, don't worry about cutting down over the weekend, you carry on smoking as normal when you start taking them, and set a quit date in your mind, I set mine for 2 weeks from onset of taking the tablets. I found after a week I was smoking much less and the ones I was smoking weren't really having the effect they usually did, there wasn't that 'hit' feeling and I found I was dragging on the ciggie for dear life trying to get something from it lol!! very odd feeling.
When the day before my quit date came, I was bit nervous and thought that as soon as I got up the next morning I would want a cigarette but I didn't :j
The course is generally for 8/9 weeks spread over two prescriptions, as it takes up to 2 months for the nicotine receptors in the brain to turn off. The Dr told me that if I was to have just one cigarette the receptors would turn back on, a pretty scary thought
1 tablet a day for the first 6 days and then 1 twice a day from then on, with at least an 8 hour gap between doses.
Anything else you need to know, just ask or PM
Chris

Hi Sparky...thanks for that. Did you have any problem getting them from your GP. I do hope he will give them to me. I know its crazy but I desperately do not want to put on weight. Its taken me years to get rid of it and I am happy with the way I am now.
I just had some FANTASTC news!!! My brother and sister-in-law are going on a mini-break to Prague in August. My brother has just called me to say that he has booked for me and my hubbie as well!!! He says he knows what a crappy time I have had over the last few years and that we deserve a break and he is paying!!!! All we need is some spends....hows that for an incentive to stop smoking!! £35 per week for 8 weeks...Loads of spending monay for 4 days!
I am crying here, I am so overcome...my family really are the best.
Thank you to absolutely everyone on this thread...I am so going to need all your support for this and if I can help anyone else I would love to.
Good luck to ALL of us....we CAN do it!!0 -

Hi Kathy
I had no problem, Zyban have been around for a few years now, Champix is the latest drug to be released and according to the papers recently this will also be freely available, it has a 10% higher success rate too.
I wouldn't mention about the weight to the GP, he may think you want it as a weight loss drug. I have read up on Zyban quite a bit and apparently they shouldn't be prescribed to anyone who can't afford to lose 10% of their body weight, I can afford a lot more than that :rotfl:
Great news about the trip, have a great time.
Thanks for the welcome all!0 -

((((HUGS)))) Kathy - what a lovely family you have and what a great goal to work towards - good luck
Have a great weekend LouBlue - Im off on a hen party next weekend in Nottingham
((((CostaLot)))) dont give up giving up - its happened to us all, I dont go out very much so I dont get that temptation too often. You sound very determined to do it this time so good luck.
Ive had a busy morning sorting bits and bobs out and I have somebody coming over to collect a single bed from Freecycle soon so that will free up a little bit of space in my garage for me to put more junk in  I really [STRIKE]want[/STRIKE] need to do a car boot sale but the last one I did was rubbish and I think I spent more than I made
Have a great weekend everybody - anybody heard from AliOK ? not 'seen' her in a while:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
