When people stop smoking, is it normal for their to not be able to get to sleep.. or when they do get to sleep.. wake up again some hours later?

you may have a point there - I dont seem to need as much sleep at the moment  which is very unlike me :o I was just putting it down to my not being at work so am less stressed but I wonder if it does have anything to do with quitting. I wonder if it has anything to do with getting more oxygen  I will ask at the next smoking cessation clinic :D

edited to add - Babybe good luck and you are welcome - the more the merrier. If I carry on at this rate though we might need to change the thread title to giving up eating magnums or giving up nicotine nasal sprays soon

  • Hiya everyone, the reasons I am using Champix - I am lily livered and weak willed so need all the help I can get.
I have told 'im indoors {he is a chef and does all the cooking} that I do not want to gain much weight so what did he do tonight We had roast lamb, cabbage, carrots, broad beans and YORKSHIRE PUDDING. Yes of course I ate it. Then he said he wished we had some strawberries which we would have had with clotted cream.
My daughter is getting married early Sept. it looks like I will have to wear a lace up corset.
    No side effects today.
Went for a walk with our dog and got soooooo wet, boy did it rain.
    Take care everyone.

ILA - hope you start to feel better, tell OH to stop doing such nice bleedin' dinners! :rotfl:

Jo - Thanks for putting the kettle on! ;)

Ooops - For God's sake, stop being so active! I'm going to have get up off my ar** now! :D
Baby - Welcome and keep posting.

Last cig, 20 March - hasn't effected my sleep, haven't had any side effects or increased hunger.. ..all I get is WANTING A FAG!!! lol But I am getting used to not having one, roll on 1 July - I came out of a non smoking restaurant tonight and before I got out, I could smell smoke, then in the doorway were loads of people smoking, it smelt awful, they looked awful and the front of the restaurant looked awful. There was a sign overhead saying No Smoking in Doorway but they all ignored it. Should be interesting on 1 July.

Keep up the good work everyone! :j

hi all, day 2 of no smoking. yesterday wasnt too bad until i went to the smoking cessation clinic. the girl didnt have any lozenges and told me it would be better to get the from g.p.? then she spent the whole time on the phone to her children while talking to me. then she practically called me a liar when i told her i was on 4mg lozenges. she said they only make 2 and 1mg... then she phoned her son for the number of their chemist so she could call him and ask him if they made 4mg!!!!! all in front of everyone. i was mortified and really felt like having a fag after being there.. well done nhs

    Morning all,

ILA, lucky you having a OH as a chef! Looks as though you might wanna encourage him to make a few weightwatcher recipes if he's gonna keep cooking you stuff like that :rotfl:

Lou, I work in an area of SE London that has all the little oneway cobbled streets with loads of posh restaurants and every lunchtime there are hoards of people in the street smoking, there's not even enough room on the pavement for all of them so who knows what it's gonna be like when the ban kicks in and the office workers are kicked out of their offices too!! I shall be safely tucked away in my non-smoking environment :D

5 weeks and 1 day for me today, I've saved (well not actually saved!!) £201.60 :D

Baby - Stupid bint!! I know where I'd like to stick that tube of lozenges. Stick with the group if it helps you but if it doesn't, don't go. I never went to one, just get support from family and friends. So see how it goes.

Jo - Is it just me or do you feel all superior now? :D I look at huddles of people having a fag in doorways and I look down my nose at them and think they stink! :rotfl:

  • Hello all its great that your all quitting just wish my mum would!!

im just postin to ask your views about the alternative methods of quit smoking out there which ones have you tried and which have or have not worked for you

it seems people are always sceptical about alternative health therapies, the reason behind my enquiry is that my auntie is an alternative health practitioner and deals with quit smoking (dnt worry im not gona be shamefully advertising, dnt wona be booted on the forum im here to save!) she has been very succesful in helping people quit smoking, she has had some tv exposure as well, richard and judy news 24 etc so the treatment does work for people, why is it that there are so many people who are so edgey towards alternative methods?

is there anything the alternative health practitioners outthere can do to reassure or at least lessen the sceptacism?

    Lou, I really do!!!!

Veeduber, I can't help I'm afraid, I've only relied on either cold turkey or patches, good luck to your mum though!
