I know it may sound as a total cop out, but I think the reason I keep on smoking if I am totally honest and it is hard to admit is that I feel totally isolated and lonely - there I've said it!
Anyway, still not smoking!:D 2 months now and it is so sureal for me!! Well done to everyone else who isn't and to those who still are, you will find the strength one day!!!:T
IDA so sorry for what happened to you!!Sunday 23rd September 2007 I came to my senses and discovered fresh air!!:j

Cheap As Chips - fantastic news - you GO FOR IT!
mumzy - Don't be hard on yourself. Well done you for coming back and being honest - that just SHOWS how much you really do want to do it. I've been thinking about you today, wondering how you got on.
Just keep reading babe. As I read and learnt more about what ciggies and nicotine did to me I started thinking about every one as I smoked it. Tried to describe the taste, how it made me feel, what the wheezing felt like, how it smelled, what I had to "stop" to go and have that ciggie (i.e. 5 mins out of work, etc). I started analysing every single one to see how much I actually needed it out of 10. Most were a 10 before that first drag but then quickly went down to a 1 or 2. So I wondered, if I can just get past that first minute of "urge" would I be okay? So I tried it. And yes, I felt a bit anxious but it didn't HURT or make me feel sick or cry. Mumzy, you have given birth to 2 children. That frightens me a million times more!!!
If you DO want to quit, something will "click" I promise you. I was terrified right up to the night before and I still didn't know if I'd manage to really do it. But I took it one "urge" at a time. Just deal with that one and get on with things. Just say to yourself that you won't smoke today. Tomorrow can take care of itself when it comes round.
Just keep thinking of that day 4 and how amazing you will feel when that nicotine monster is finally dead!!!QUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0 -

Right, that is nearly day 1 out of the way!!
I am going to bed in a minute just to make the day end quicker!
It has been really hard work but at least I have done it!
I have found it hard and all I have done is think about smoking and keep thinking that I have all this time on my hands. Although I have found myself being on time for things today, even getting the kids to school this morning as I didn't have to have 3 fags before 8.30am. That makes me sound really bad but we were always late for school as I "had" to have 3 before school. It has just got me thinking about how my life does (did) revolve around fags.
Anyway looking forward to day 2.
I hope everyone has had a good day.:TPay off all your debt by Xmas 2012Aim £8200Total so far £3700Left £45000 -

Brilliant! Well you can get yourself stuck into housework tomorrow and getting rid of ashtrays and all that!
Please be prepared that you will think about ciggies a LOT! I thought about not much else for ages! But that isn't a bad thing and if you're ready with lots of positive thoughts then it isn't a problem at all. I came up with a really comical mental image of a brown gremlin and every time I got that itch for a ciggie I imagined that gremlin throwing a little temper tantrum like a toddler. Only you don't have to plead with this one - you can ignore him or you can drop-kick him out of the nearest window - whatever will make you smile and get through that urge.
If I had one wish I would love for everyone to know how it feels when you finally get nicotine out of your bloodstream.
You know that time when you are at your calmest and (you think) you happiest - i.e. when you are actually smoking (so the urge is at its least)? Well, it's about 100% calmer than thatQUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0 -
