  • Thats why i left Blackpool, for somewhere nicer nearby. Blackpools good to come and visit (sometimes) but holiday resorts are rarely great places to live.
Glad you managed to stop again adz
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(
  • Are these weird, vivid dreams due to too much nicotine replacement late at night?
    How long before it stops?

I do enjoy drawing (pencil drawings) and have other interests but I suffer with ME and as today my body hurts so much I haven't been able to get dressed. Sorry it sounds really depressing but I'm quite used to it and I'm not one to feel sorry for myself. When I feel so exhausted and aching all over, it's easy to just sit there and have a coffee and a fag! The more I hurt I just have another cigarette!
:hello: Hi Tobruk and everyone else!!! Have you read Allen Carrs book!! You were saying that you get bored because you are at home all day, then I would say the book would be ideal for you!!! The beauty of it is , that you can puff to your hearts content while you read the book, and Allen actually suggests it and smoke more if you can!!! Thats what I loved about the book because your not put on the spot!! Now while your reading and puffing away, you get rid of all the brainwashing that smokers accumalate over the years to keep them smoking!! You go through it all and set it right in your mind and it is so true that a smoker will make any excuse to keep on smoking!! He mentions there is never a right time to give up as you will find an excuse to keep it going!!! I think I got a third of the way through the book and I couldn't wait to stop smoking!!! I was actually excited at the thought of stopping!!! I put out my last cig when I had finished the book and I was that delighted I cried!!! I am now 3 weeks and 4 days smoke free and its the best decision I have ever made!!! Give it a try, you have absolutley nothing to lose!! £5.99 in Asda, so it won't break the bank!!! :A

  • I read the book and it was excellent, as you say it dispels a lot of the theories about why and how we smoke.
I highlighted lots of the useful peices of advice in there too,so i could quickly refer back, but have since lost/mislaid my copy.
I don't want to pick it up again becasue it tells you to smoke and having got through 3 days i don't want to have another fag, but for those still smoking it can be great.

Hi Elle45,:hello: congruatulations on your achievement so far - keep it up. The book does sound good and I have heard a lot about it, the only trouble is it would take me a long time to read - I haven't been able to read a book for a very long time as once I read a page I have to start again because I don't know what I've read - to do with ME. I also would not be able to read and have a cig as I only have one functioning arm - I really do sound like an old crock ha!:D I know it sounds like an excuse and I'm not looking for any excuse as there are none!
It's funny, when I gave up in August I didn't find it that hard in the first two weeks, the biggest difference were the dreams - I do dream a lot normally but they were something else!
  • Does anyone know if the book is available on cd?

OMG you've all been so busy!!

Just popped on quick but need to say...

Hi to the new posters  I'll write back properly in the morning, sorry I can't do personals right now :(

Tobruk, go online to your local library and order Alan Carr online, it's definately the way to go (or Neil Casey's book, I've not read it but a few on here will recommend...won't you TNG?!!!)

Get the pencils, paints, whatever from the loft! We've taken a long time to get ourselves into the habit of smoking so not smoking will not happen overnight. I remember when I first quit, I would fight tooth and nail to get a packet of fags, would've literally driven a 50 mile round trip if it meant I could smoke, but I wouldn't do that to not smoke and that showed the weakness.

You will all succeed, I promise you that, you just gotta want it :)

I'll be back in the morning with personals :D

    Night all x
