Hi, hope everyone is doing and feeling well?

Found out today how negative some people can be.

The contractor who we are doing some work for at the moment, found out that I have given up smoking. 'Bet you won't last, trying to give up' he said.

I pointed out to him that when he asked me to sponsor him to run the London Marathon, did I say 'Bet you won't finish!!'. No I sponsored him and wished him luck.

So I told him that I was not trying to give up smoking, but that I had given up and was now a NON SMOKER. He said that he was going to organise a sweepstake amongst the subcontractors. Fine I said, as long as I get to nominate the charity that the moneies are paid to.

Anyway, on a lighter note. It took my business partner [a sometimes smoker] 2 1/2 hours to notice that I hadn't had a ciggie. She said she was really proud of me and gave me a hug. Made my feel eally chuffed.

And before anyones asks, NO my OH still has not noticed. Either that or he his completely ingnoring me. I must admit it's beginning to get on my nerves, but at the same time making me more determined.

    Enough of the rant.

Good luck to all, keep strong.

Hi been reading the thread don't give up giving up. :) I stopped 2 years 3 months ago I still get the odd urge to smoke but it only lasts seconds. Don't forget no more running out of fags and looking for a shop at 3/4 in the morning. Can't believe I used to do that. :o It does get easier. Good Luck. :D

reading this thread has inspired me to try again to give up the dreaded 30 a day.
i started at 2pm today and am keeping busy for the moment and drinking lots of squash.
i spend £45 a week on fags and really need the money.
my OH smokes about 60 a day so i know i am going to struggle more when he gets home late tonight.
good luck to everyone else who is quitting or who already has.
    see you all again soon,
    lou

    Hey Lou

Good luck! I tried to give up loads of times but this time, I was just determined. Its been 2 months and I still haven't had one. Saving £120 a month so can now go from a 5 day week to a 4 day week. Give yourself an incentive, whatever that may be, and that will get you through it. Shame you can't get your OH to do it with you, but I know from experience that it has to be something you want to do and not nagged into doing. ;)

Haven't had time to post over the past few days at work and my laptop at home has died :( but I am reading all the posts and glad to see you're all doing well and we have a couple of newcomers  welcome!

I've still not smoked so quite pleased with myself! Going to be a struggle tomorrow night cos I'm out on a girly night out and everyone smokes _pale_ but I'm sure I'll cope.

Speak to you all later, and keep strong!!!
