Hi NON SMOKERS,
Well yesterday went suprisingly well.
I was working on my own yesterday [I am a painter and decorator], I stripped a bathroom AND repapered it ! I didn't sit down to have a tea/lunch break [I did have a break but didn't sit down to have one] OR go out for a fag break. I was really suprised how long I must have previously spent, on a FAG BREAK.
The patch itched like mad for the first half hour or so and the inhaler felt like I had smoked 10 ciggies one after the other, that was only after the first puff on it. Needless to say I only used it a couple of times. Did my mouth always taste like that. Eeeeew
I got lots of gardening done yesterday evening too, trying to keep myself busyWas absolutley shatterred by 9pm. So pampery bath and early night.
The funny side of this is, I haven't told my husband that I have given up the evil weed. So far he hasn't even noticed that I haven't got a ciggie permanently clamped to my face or no ashtrays in the house!! Wonder how long it will take him.Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -
hello people,
i have not smoked now for 44 days :-) or drank!!! or drank coffee !
until last nite.... i went for dinner with a friend in a pub ( i entered the pub with grave suspicion!) it was so smoky in the main bit i wanted to run back out, but we went to the non smoking section, thank god they ad one. hhhad steak and chips, washed down with 3 vodka milkshake type things (ohh my god they were yummy) 4 jack daniels and 3 vodka shots then stumbled up the road bout 10pm went home and went to bed. must say it felt soooo peculiar not having a fag whilst waiting for my drinks, drinking my drinks, eating my food, socialising, relaxing but i am so happy i didnt! the next hurdle for me will probably be going out with a friend who does smoke but i will leave that another couple months i think.
i also stopped using the patches on thhursday, i thought id really feel it but have been fine, mind u i have been using the nasal spray like its going out of fashhion and not sure what i will do once i stop that but no worries just now.
i got drunk so quickly ha ha and much less of a hangover today cos before i would have been drinking probably bout 10-12 Jd on a night out and choking to death on my fag smoke and generally being an !!!!!
being on day 44 i can say now i feel relatively safe, the thought of ever smoking again disgusts me but is still equally balanced by the fear that i know i could jus pick one up and start again at any time but not cos of the cravings!
i used the neil casey book too definelty worth a read and was probably the best thing i done in my preperation week0 -
Hi,
Today was good. Had a couple of 'I could do with a ciggie' moments but got through them.
Kept myself busy again today in the garden.
Dug over two flower beds that haven't been touched for 10 years or more. One of them had concrete mixed on it three years ago, so a bit hard. Borrowed a pick axe from my neighbour and off I went like a mad woman.
The garden seems to be changing daily now. I planted 18 sunflowers [grown from see by DS] 11 geraniums, 80 begonias and 40 petunias. Moved all the tubs about and generally cleared stuff away.
Keeping busy seems to be the way for me.
Anyone need some digging done? :rotfl:
Looks like the weather is going to be 'bleh' tomorrow so I might have to resort to housework or at least clearing out some cupboards.Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -
Hi everyone
Big big hugs for all those still not smoking - well done!!
Also - big big hugs (of encouragement!) to those wanting to give up.
Nearly two weeks now without a ciggie, but tonight I really wanted one. Went for a walk to my local shop and bought some peanuts instead - much cheaper!!

:j well done Dragon Lady :j and if you are offering you can come round here and sort out my [STRIKE]waste land[/STRIKE] garden
you may need a pneumatic drill to get through the clay/soil though :rotfl: alternatively if you want to be kept really busy for at least a month Im sure the decorating would keep you off the ciggies
only joking - Im really pleased you have managed 2 days. Try to steer clear of any temptations and dont give in to any cravings. Has your OH noticed yet ?
thats a good suggestion coolmum66 - I have saved £98.68 so far so added to FieryBlondeScot's total and Dragon Ladies total that makes £302.12 saved so far :T well done on not buying the ciggies today :T
I went out to the theatre tonight and was so glad I didnt smoke anymore otherwise I would have been stood out in the wind and rain having a quickie in the interval
How is everybody else doing
ps forgot to add - its 3 weeks for me tomorrow:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -

Just to say good luck to everyone who's trying to stop smoking. I stopped just over 2 years ago. I tried patches but kept forgetting to put them on got to day 18 and I'd only used 12/13 patches so I gave them up as well. I used to smoke about 30 roll ups a day more if I went pub.
I still get the odd craving but it only lasts seconds. I found ordinary chewing gum a great help. With the new smoking ban coming in force it should be easier to stop. Once again good luck. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0 -
Just wanted to offer my support to you all. I think I may have posted on here before but I gave up about it must have been 5 years ago. I do sometimes fancy one but remember how hard it was to give up. I am the type of person who finds it hard to give things up. Believe me if I can do it so can you.
Oh and now I have savings and can just go out and buy things after saving my money instead of smoking. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -
Hi Peeps,
Didn't get any housework done, but got lots of sorting out of paperwork, filing, shredding etc.,
Even found £10 in Tesco gift vouchers that I had forgotten about
I have the most 'orrible taste in my mouth, not sure if it's the inhaler thingy or not. I don't use it that much at all, couple of times a day at the most.
OH still hasn't noticed yet, or if he has he hasn't said anything :undecided
Had an attack of the munchies about 7pm. I just HAD to have some chocolate, tried to ignore that craving but couldn't :EasterBun
How's everyone else getting on?
