    hi all :hello:

Just to add my support (see my sig!).

The way I see it is that it is all in the mind. this is why some people who stop still 'crave' long after any physical symptoms have gone. If you can get your mindset right, you WILL find it a lot easier. Hypnotherapy is one way - I haven't done it, though. I found reading Allen Carr heplful, but didn't quite do it for me. Then I read Neil Casey's book and BANG! it hit me. I haven't had a 'craving' since.

I would recommend it to anyone. It'll only cost you the price of a packet of fags :)

Hope you are all successful at stopping.

    Best wishes

Hi everyone. :hello: How you all doing today? It's awful quiet on here...

I've just been to the chemist to pick up my patches in preparation for Tuesday. The pharmacist took my details and asked about my smoking, then told me she had quit a year ago, is now addicted to nicotine chewing gum and would gladly have a cigarette if I offered her one.

    After A WHOLE YEAR?!

Good job I have you lot for support because it looks like me and her might be smoking fags together when I go to pick up my patches every week...

Hope everyone is doing ok today.

Well, I checked my patches from my last non smoking attempt. and guess what, they went out of date October 2006!!!! God was it really that long ago.

So, off to the nurse I go.

So I now have, 1 weeks worth of patches, she wants me to go every week to give me encouragement, she said. More like to make sure I'm not cheating:p

She tried to get me to find out what my trigger moments were. I honestly cannot think of any, I JUST SMOKE, and now I don't want to anymore.

I have also bought one of those inhaler thingys that look like a plastic cigarette holder for when the urge really takes hold.

I am working on my own tomorrow so I won't have anyone around me, smoking or otherwise. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

So that's it then, as from tomorrow I will officially be a non smoker!!!

P.s. Why is it that I can manage to get rid of two kids over a weekend, but never all three at the same time? Oh well the one that's at home [DD 17]doesn't smoke so that will help. I hope. Fingers crossed.

PPS: Must remember to throw out the ashtray in the van and the car and hang up one of those smelly air freshner things.

How is everyone doing? As previously posted, I had last cig on 20 March. No patches or gums, just went for it and its going surprisingly well. Every time I feel like one, I just keep thinking..."4 day week....4 day week...." as I can afford to work one day a week less if I give up. Also, mates of mine have now told me they didn't come round as much as they wanted cos of my smoky living room but now they will. I had NO idea!!!

Keep up the good work everyone and those of you thinking about doing it. Its the best thing I have ever done, and its not always easy but the pros FAR outweigh the CONS. :)

And a little tip, there is ALWAYS going to be something going on in your day or life which is stressful or worrying so don't keep using the excuse..."I'll give up when this is over or when that is over..." - the key is dealing with those stressful moments without the need for a ciggie....its just habit, believe me! I know you can all do it. :T
