Hi all
Well done to everyone giving up. I'm now on my fifth day (cold turkey) and seem to be coping! I used to smoke 10-12 a day, most of which were habit and not really "needed". For me, the incentive is the amount of money I'll save.
Unfortunately since joing MSE I seem to hvae become a bit evangelical about clearing my debts - please let me know if I'm boring any of you!!
Am going out with a friend tonight - so will pop back over the weekend and update on how strong I was!!Debt at 2nd LBM (!) Jun 08 £8,435 - hm, let's not go there!!

DAy 36 fags NOT smoked - 845 ewwwwww yuk !!!
jo i too had the same thought bout ebay ha ha , i put a patch on my bum one day but with the itchiness, i couldnt really keep scratchin my bum at work ha ha
coolmum god i wish i could do it cold turkey.... i still get cravings, dont even know if they qualify as cravings cos in one sense its not a fag i want cos im so over smoking and the taste of it but its more of an inner pull that leads into nothingness, the something missing feeling, the feeling that i can only compare to having s*x but not getting the O!! but at the same time not actually wanting to satisfy the feeling by smoking...
most peculiar....
tomorro i am going to oxford street (stress) with my mum (stress), shopping (not stress) but she smokes (stress) followed by dinner out (food -trigger - stress) he he i know i will get thru it though but need a way other than eating to satisfy that inner pull0 -
Hey FBS
How many days? How many cigs?!?!? Seeing it there really motivates me. Almost as much as seeing the amount of money I will save!!!
I have given up before using the patches - but felt quite stressed when I finished the course of them. I think cold turkey may work better for me. Like I said most were habit, and changing my routine slightly stops the "Oh - cigarette time"
Weirdly I have ONE CIGARETTE hidden in the house if things get soooooooooooo bad. I'm hoping by knowing it's there - I won't need it!!
Best of luck to everybody. Will post over the weekend about my night out

Morning all
Yay!!! Went out last night and didn't have a sinlge cigarette!! The pub we went to has already banned smoking inside - so that helped, and my frined doesn't smoke so that helped as well!!! (1 gold star!):j
Also - my friend (bless her!!) insisted it was her treat - she paid for all the drinks and the taxi - so a no spend evening for me!! (2 gold stars!!):j
But - I did leave my teenage son at home on his own to go out for a couple of hours (1 black mark!) Maybe I need to join the bad mothers club?!?!?!?
Hope you all have great non-smoking weekends!!

Morning all!
FBS, blimey that's a lot of fags not smoked! I feel the same as coolmum that really gives you inspiration!! Enjoy your day out up town, I've not been up to London shopping for ages, I think cos I have to travel into London to work I can't be bothered to do it again on the weekend!! Hope your day is not too stressful, can't you ask your mum not smoke around you? Last time I gave up that's what my mum did, plus she doesn't smoke when I take the kids rond there anyway.
Coolmum, well done :T You did really well! I think it'll be a lot easier for us when the smoking ban comes in (never thought I'd say that!), at least we won't all have to stand out on the pavement and look pathetic! How old is your son? Is he pleased you've given up smoking?
I'm going out tonight too and my friend also doesn't smoke she gave up 3 years ago, we're going for an Indian then to the pub. Usually we do it the other way round but I thought that if I'd had a drink then got the craving after eating I've more chance of caving in so we thought we'd eat before drinking so I am slightly sober when I get the 'after eating' fag craving  Plus we thought we'd be grown up and have a proper meal before going out drinking rather than rolling into the Indian at closing time and ordering everything on the menu :rotfl:
How is everyone else doing, where are you all?
Hope you all have a nice weekend, sun's out here, dunno if it'll stay out though

cool mum thats wicked managing not to smoke on a night out, i am gonna not drnk till july1, i dont drink that often anyway but when i do ..... eek!
went to primark on oxford st today and oh my god what a nightmare, it was packed, there are so many floor staff jus getting in your way, there was a livemouse running around the shoes bit, i queued for the fitting room about an hour, and bout another hour at the tills, wicked store but i will never go on a saturday again!
if its any consolation my son now 16 has been getting himself to school since he was 12! and from about 14-15 stayed in on his own for a few hours here and there, with a mobile of course, he liked the independance.
i watched my mum smoke about 6 fags thhru the day and i must admit i was half irritated, and half felt sorry for her knowing that she felt bad smoking in front of me but having to feed her addiction! she done well tho cos a day up west end the two of us would of smoked like chimneys!0 -
