The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

^^I'm also fortunate that I don't have regular contact with smokers during my normal day; i'm certain that I would have fallen off the wagon if I spent a lot of time around smokers since i think i give in quite easily to temptation.
It's also helped that people can't smoke in workplaces anymore; since the ban, there is no longer a smoking room in my workplace (hurray!).
I'm beginning to think that one of the reasons why people fall off the wagon is that, prior to quitting, they thought the craving for nicotine and simply the thinking about smoking would disappear a short while after quitting. In fact it takes a lot longer for that to disappear and, for that reason, i think a lot of people lose heart that such thoughts and cravings will never disappear. However, I try to renew my resolve by reminding myself that those who quit a long time ago do say that, once the habit is truly defeated, the cravings do disappear.
Stay strong everyone...and have a great, smoke-free weekend!
BTW, why not have an extra pint (or three!) to reward yourself for your achievement...I certainly will!

I shocked a mate who has been on holiday, when I told him I'd not had a fag in 11 days.
He went really shocked, then said well done, but I liked laughing at you being a smoker, can;t you start again?0 -
Charming! I went round to a friend's house last night to drop something off. Knowing that they are both smokers I had planned not to stay long. So of course they were both in the garden having a drink and smoking. (which was really painfull to see!) My friend is really great about me trying to quit but her husband was my worse nightmare "go on have one" "you might as well have one you won't last". It was like he was having a right go at me for quitting!Pay off all your debt by Xmas 2012Aim £8200Total so far £3700Left £45000

Just watched the vid from first page.
It was affective, but as you know, when you have a fag you don't think of all that. Quite a few people want me to start again, I want to in some ways, but I dont want the health problems0 -
