  • I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place, but is there a website where
you can compare store prices for gum? My wife gave up smoking donkeys years ago but now uses 2mg Nicorette gum like it's going out of fashion ( 30 a day !). In the last couple of monthsthe price of Nicorette dropped dramatically as the smoking ban came into force. Now it's gone up to the normal price in Sainsburys and Llloyds Chemists ( group ) - has anyone got any suggestions please where to look for the best prices ?
    Thanks Pete

    Hi Koala,

I just did a google search for 'nicorett gum prices' and it came up with this online pharmacy, don't know if it's any good to you?

    http://www.reachpharmacy.com/shop/customer/pages.php?pageid=15&gclid=COv26obPuI4CFQQdEgodzxvNwQ

Otherwise it's a matter of keeping an eye on all the supermarkets/chemists as they rotate their offers fairly regularly enough so that you will be able to get it slightly cheaper in one of them.

Is your wife now addicted to the gum then? One of the posters on this thread found herself addicted to the nasal spray. Might be worth her speaking to her GP cos I don't think you are meant to use the gum for longer than 3 months or so after quitting.

Good luck, let us know how your wife gets on :)

  • Hi Koala, there are often some on sale on ebay at decent prices.

    Hi all

I'm super-evangelical about quitting those horrible cigarettes. I quite 2 years ago on 3 September. I've never looked back (well not much).

I smoked from the age of 13 probably right up to age 39. I feel so silly that I kept the habit up for so long. Now that I've stopped though, and got a clue, I'm amazed that the whole world hasn't cottoned on. We're helped by the smoking ban, the extortionate price and the awful health risks so why are people still smoking?

I watched my darling father in law fight for every single breath as he slowly, very slowly, died of lung cancer. I couldn't not stop. My future was staring me in the face. He didn't want to die. He was in pain.

Why are your friends egging you on to smoke? "Go on, you know you'll never last".........."dont' be a spoilsport"...... It's because they're JEALOUS! You're doing what they should be doing. You succeeding means they fail. For my first six months I hung on for dear life. I tell you I was bereft without my beloved fags. I faked it when I could (with a straw), I ate like a pig (still do) but after a wee while I forgot I wanted one. Now I forget for days and days on end. It's cool!

Sorry for the long rant but I feel SO PASSIONATELY about it. Remember how people used to say "there's nothing worse than a converted smoker?" They are right! I am the reminder that it can be done.

    Go visit www.whyquit.com

It's a fab site and you can get a nice quit counter that tells you how long, how much, etc. It's a great incentive to keep going.

    :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

    Sounds just like me....... :o:o:o:o:D

    Woohooo WELL DONE MUM :j :T :D

I really really am need of either a cigerette or a large brandy right now...

I don't know if I've mentioned it on this thread before but I had a thread over on the Family Board about how I am trying to find a way to either 1) give up work completely or 2) find a job nearer to home (I currently spend 3-3.5hours a day travelling to and from work) as I've got 3 kids and I'm constantly rushing around, always late, and always get home when they are about to go to bed. So I've been experimenting with AQA, mystery shopping and suchlike trying to build a bit of income up etc. But, applied for a job last week for a teaching assistants job in a local school, I've never worked in a school before and mentioned this in my letter but also told them as I've got 3 kids my house is like a drop-in centre so I'm well used to being around children - and they've just rung me and asked me to come to an interview on Friday morning

Think I'd better crack open the toblerone to quash these smoking/drinking thoughts :D
