Hello Torbrex. I'm a single Mum, 50+
Been on my own for 10 years since my ex traded me in for a younger model. She has since traded him in for a younger model. Haha. Karma eh ?
My friends all say "don't you want to be in a relationship ?" Well, my answer is, i don't really know, as i've got so used to being able to please myself that i honestly think it would be difficult for me to put up with someone else now ! I suppose if the right person came along i might change my mind ?
I have 4 vases of flowers and 2 boxes of chocolates in my lounge today. Nothing to do with Valentines Day, it was my birthday on Saturday !0 -

I'm sure, going off the top quote, you'll find somebody - is it politically incorrect to say that you don't sound like a munter?

Very good idea but it doesn't really work for me. I'm a single mum, very limited time. I do go to the local swimming pool during weekends but I'm with my 5-yr old and wearing my mum hat so...This is complete rubbish! I have been single for 13 years - by choice so I have no regrets and no desire to be in a relationship - and love hasn't come knocking at my door - especially when I'm in my hermit phase and stay at home for days!
That doesn't really mean staying at home... go out, do what you like to do, socialize.. the goal would be to enjoy yourself and forget that 'you're looking'. Easier said than done, true

Anselm, will you be my 'virtual' valentine? You made me smile.X
Lix75. You are 'lucky' you have a young child in the sense that once you have met someone they will be fast asleep in the evenings or hopefully at their dad's for the weekend?
Unfortunately for me, my teenagers are up all night and constantly walking in and out of the front room if I had company. I gave up dating anyone who wanted to come back to my house a few years ago because the kids would always be around-probably why I have not managed to get into a relation ship for the last couple of years (well partly anyway).
At least when they are young they don't wink at you when you have company and they go out, and you spend the evening listening for the front door! lol. My children were young when I had my first serious relationship after my marriage and it worked because they didn't question it. Now they have to know everything (I saw a guy for a couple of weeks last year and proceeded to ask him every question possible). They didn't like him (but neither did I) so it doesn't matter anyway.
Chin up! you are still young and will probably meet a dad with a young child like you, unlike me - I am determined NOT to go out with a man who has young children when I'm just coming to the end of my 'life sentence'!"The best things in life are free"

Sure I can
I'm fat, single and ready to eat Pringles
(I'm not actually fat but the soundbite wouldn't work otherwise

Sorry to ask and I admittedly haven't read the whole thread but have YOU asked any guys out ?
I was in a similar place to you being single for a number of years until I got asked out !! Eleven years later we are still together and she has get me organised and sorted !!
Please realise that this is not a criticism but just a thought.....Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

I did recently, in a roundabout way, approach this guy from one of my OU modules. He is a widower, same age, even his daughter is in the same class as my youngest son and he lives 5 minutes from me.
He kept asking me to go round his to work on our course - we are doing French and I am half-French so have the advantage- and once opened the door in a towel and then asked me to rub his sore back!
When I then asked if he wanted more - his response was...I like you a lot as a friend! It really confused me as we have so much in common and he hugs me every time we see each other and always go to the tutorials in the same car. He sends texts with kisses and at Xmas, new year etc.
Work that one out?"The best things in life are free"
