Sorry Mark never seen the bit about it being a USA to UK airport.
In that case Donna you have no claim.

Just like to say thanks to Martin and others on here for their advice. I have today finally received acknowledgement from united after 3 emails and a recorded letter. They have sent forms for me to sign and fill in bank details stating each passenger (7 of us) will receive €600 euros each (option to take $1,000 voucher) and will be paid out within 30days of receiving my signed forms.
Some of you seem to have had to out up a fight with them but they have appeared to have admitted this falls under the regulation without any hassle.
Don't know if it helped but before submitting my email to them I requested a letter (which you can do on their site) stating the reason for my flight delay which was late arriving flight crew. I sent a copy of this letter with my claim for compensation.
Thanks again everyone.. It was an horrendous experience with 3 children who where extremely tired. It doesn't make up for losing a days holiday but it certainly helps!!0 -
This is exactly what I did. Mine wasn't disputed either.
Congratulations!Pachaprincess1 wrote: »snip.....

Result!!!!! Just got e-mail from Delta agreeing to pay 5 x 600 euro each for our delay to Orlando recently. Big thanks to all the people on here for all the guidance and templates etc. Things moved a lot faster when I contacted the Civil Aviation Regulator in Dublin.0

Hi all. A week ago today I turned up to Bogota Airport for my 13.30 American Airlines flight to Miami that was supposed to take me to Miami in good time for my 8pm ish flight back to London Heathrow.
The plane from Bogota was 3-4 hours late though as the plane coming down from Miami to take us was called back by someone at Miami airport due to a technical/maintenance concern with the plane. By the time I arrived at Miami 3-4 hours late I was too late for my London connection, which, which meant I had to get a flight 21 hours later and spend an extra day/night twiddling my thumbs in a Miami Holiday Inn at American Airlines expense. I should have been back at work at this point....
My flights were bought through STA Travel and were billed as American Airlines flights, although the flight from Miami to London was actually always going to be on a British Airways plane.
So, it was a non-EU to non-EU flight that delayed my non-EU to EU flight home (with the AA/BA partnership). Wondering if I am entitled to anything, and if so my best route to claiming?
I've tried having a search round here but can't find anything that directly applies.
Many thanks0 -
I'm about to start a claim with United for a cancelled flight from Belfast to Orlando (22nd Sept) due to a faulty oven housing.
The staff at Belfast were helpful but woefully under resourced and it took them a good few hours to get people to hotels etc
Our party ended up having to drive up from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando as they couldn't get us all (11 of us) into Orlando airport in time for my nieces wedding!!The Daily Mail

You could try and see if your travel insurance will cover anything but EU compensation does not apply0 -

Pachaprincess1, did you email them directly (if so, what email address did you send to?) or use the "Contact Us" facility on the website? The Daily Mail
